WASHINGTON (AP) -- The White House says President Barack Obama is not pushing for new gun control legislation even though he still supports a ban on assault weapons. Spokesman Jay Carney says Obama intends to focus on other ways to combat violence.
Carney's comments Thursday are the latest sign that Obama won't engage lawmakers in a drive for new laws, bowing to congressional opposition to additional gun restrictions.

“No, Obama’s going to screw Americans with the UN Treaty on Small Arms and get it passed by a lame duck Senate after November. That’s Barry’s and Hillary’s plan.”
They won’t get it thru the Senate. But just having the President sign the treaty has some effect of law in the US under other UN conventions. So it will give Zero a fig leaf to impose regulatory rules or executive orders that are much more burdensome to gun owners.
Indeed the left have been quite creative as of late to create scandal and story line to advance their anti-gun cause.
That being said despite their efforts to the contrary the left are losing the gun war. Too many Americans are buying Guns, and realizing new reasons to have rather than fear the tools. The left inadvertently are a large part of the reason too. They have made government more oppressive while at the same time less capable of protecting us from criminals. That alone is pushing larger numbers of Americans to find for themselves new systems of security.
That is of course a good thing for conservatism long term, because as Americans become better able to defend themselves they will not only need Government less, they will be better positioned to defend themselves from government agents as well the more common strains of criminals.
After the election (if he wins): “My views have evolved”...
Annnd trying to walk it back now that they’ve remembered gun control is now an overcharged third rail. Good luck with that.

If only outlaws are given guns by law-enforcement officials, then only outlaws will kill law-enforcement officials. If guns are outlawed, then becoming outlaws will be our only hope.
Everything from this White House is parsed and lawyer-like. He is hinting he will use an Executive Order, with the wording of this statement.
