Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino repeated today that he doesnt want Chick-fil-A in Boston, but he backed away from a threat to actively block the fast-food chain from setting up shop in the city.
I cant do that. That would be interference to his rights to go there, Menino said, referring to company president Dan Cathy, who drew the mayors wrath by going public with his views against same-sex marriage.
The mayor added: I make mistakes all the time. Thats a Menino-ism.
Last week, the Herald first reported Menino saying it will be very difficult for Chick-fil-A to obtain licenses for a restaurant in Boston.
Menino acknowledged Cathys freedom to express his views, but was unapologetic about his own tough stance thats become national news.
Some people might not like these positions, but as mayor of the city of Boston, you cant run and hide, and Ill always protect peoples rights, Menino said.

"Mumbles" Menino
What is the matter with the voters of MA?
What?? Quit mumbling! Speak louder!
The mayor added: “I make mistakes all the time. That’s a Menino-ism.”
As long as they agree with what I think.
The only rights under fire here are those of Chick Fil A.
” Some people might not like these positions, but as mayor of the city of Boston, you cant run and hide, and Ill always protect peoples rights, Menino said.

Except CFA’s rights to free speech.
Bozo!
Now that Menino has eaten Crow-Fil-A I wonder if Rahm will shortly follow suit???
Most liberals really are stupid.
Pull them out of their tight little rhetorical loop and they are as ignorant about civics as any zoo animal.
I have similar values as Dan Cathy of Chik-Fil-A, I’d like Mr. Menino to ban me from Boston as well. I’d frame official proclimation and hang it over the fireplace.
In the meantime, I’ll suggest Mr. Menino cut back on all fast food regardless of his political point of view. From the photo he looks like there’s been one too many triple cheeseburgers with mega-sized fries and giant gallon gulper sodas.
Rahm isn’t allowed to have independent thoughts ~ not ever. Axelrod is going to tell him he has to do another beat down on heterosexuals or it’s all over for him.
I think Mumbles thought people outside his liberal bubble would agree with him. I also think his lawyers had a “Come to Jesus” meeting with him, wherein they advised him of the whole “restricting civil rights under color of law” section of US Code.
A friend of mine at Bible Study wanted to know if they plan on discouraging, whether officially or unofficially, the evangelical churches, especially the black ones!, Christian colleges, Mormons, Roman Catholics and their various charities, Salvation Army, Muslims, orthodox Jews, Boy Scouts, conservative political action groups, and similar organizations who aren’t currently toeing the politically correct line.
It would seem to me that any and all of the above should also be getting the (jack)boot, why just pick on Chick Fil A?
Boston is where God will aim the nozzle on the day He decides it is time for Massachusetts to receive a well deserved enema, Menino is the hemorrhoid that will hopefully be ripped away upon insertion.
It’s actually BETTER for Chick-fil-A that this goon shot his mouth off.
1. It is now much more likely that CFA will get whatever licensing it needs, either directly or through a winning lawsuit. Any effort by the city, NOW, to deny/ delay based on non-political factors, like traffic, will be easily disprovable by the Mayor’s public comments (that it’s all about disagreement, with traffic as a pretext).
2. Lefties ALREADY weren’t going to go to CFA, but now conservatives will be energized to patronize it.
3. Maybe, just maybe, the professional left will learn not to use government to reward and punish based on political views.
