STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — The famed statue of Joe Paterno was taken down from outside the Penn State football stadium Sunday as the NCAA announced it would be issuing sanctions against the university whose top officials were accused in a scathing report of burying child sex abuse allegations against a now-convicted retired assistant.

Workers lifted the 7-foot-tall statue off its base and used a forklift to move it into Beaver Stadium as the 100 to 150 students watched, some chanting, "We are Penn State."

The civil trial found him responsible for their deaths, but he’s in jail for brandishing weapons after breaking into a guy’s hotel room for stolen sports memorabilia.

What astute person and by the power of what state statute did he order to remove the statue?

Take the monstrosity to the bomb squad's range and launch JoePa’s statue into low Earth orbit with 100 pounds of C4 after strapping Sandusky to it for the ride of his life.

Dogpiling on Paterno is sooooooooooooooo much easier than addressing the real cause that set this crap up in the first place: Allowing Graham Spanier to install a PC pink mafia friendly regime which would tolerate anything except intolerance of the homosexual lifestyle.

Yes, shame on Paterno for not blowing the whistle louder, longer and earlier. But the next natural step in the homo agenda is to allow recruitment of and experimentation with younger and younger kids. If the homos have their way, in a decade or so what Sandusky did will be considered as normal as older homos boning each other. But nobody has the guts to point that out. It is so much easier just to pile on and kick a dead man.

Sure, it is not inconceivable that Joe Paterno was or felt himself intimidated into silence by the atmosphere at the university and the society at large. After all, gaiety is so cool, isn’t it?

Sandusky was not a pedophile, he was a member of a protected “gay” class!

Penn State President Rod Erickson said he decided to have the statue removed and put into storage because it "has become a source of division and an obstacle to healing."

Hi. Hey. In no way do I mean any disrespect to you.

I was on a ride in upper Egypt in 1982 and there was a body floating down the adjacent canal. The Egyptian driver said that area was controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood. I asked. He said don’t ask. That body was going to float clear down to the Med.

There are a lot of people associated with Penn State who will suffer from some abuse for NOTHING.

My daughter, when she was 16, chose that “bad” boy. She changed her mind. But there is nothing that protects her now from that association.

Except for one thing.

ME.

I haven’t heard about Sandusky singing, but I would not be surprised. Years ago I used to hear G Gordon Liddy on the radio and he talked about his time in the federal pen for Watergate. He said every felon in there was framed and totally innocent, except for the child molesters. They were more than happy to sit down beside him and describe every single act in great detail. Remember Sandusky pretty much admitting guilt to Costas, I think it was?

Paterno knew about it and should have insisted the officials at Penn contact law enforcement and he/they didn't do that. I don't see how he lived with himself knowing that was happening. Nothing he accomplished was worth letting that continue.

It's a good thing to remove that statue.

Complaining about people disgusted with Paterno is sooooooooooooo much easier than addressing an underlying Big campus problem with its sports industry: Failure to police itself; allowing personality cults to develop in its midst; and putting short-term reputations before all else.

Now look @ Penn State's reputation!

Innocence is only something that can be ascribed to children. And grantedly, I can only speak from a State level, but no chomo EVER sat down next to me and got that happy.

Good point!

Spanier set an aggressive pervert agenda and made showing moral judgement and honor politically incorrect. The men involved can not be excused for yeilding to the wrath of political correctness when it came to protecting Sandusky’s sexual preference to rape boys. But Spanier’s aggressive homo culture made the risks even higher in confronting Sandusky’s sexual behavior.

“You’re talking like we’re convicting him in a court of law...”

***

Actually, my point is that Paterno is NOT being tried in a court of law, but rather, in a court of public opinion.

Yes, shame on Paterno for not blowing the whistle louder, longer and earlier at all.

Let's get one thing straight. Joe Paterno did not do a damn thing to keep this from happening again and again and again and again. The ONLY action he took was to protect Sandusky and to ensure that he had the same opportunity to molest young boys that he always had.

McQuerry shows up at Paterno's house early on a Saturday morning to tell him what he heard over the sound of a running shower, and then subsequently saw with his own eyes. So what does Paterno do? He spends the next 30 hours formulating a way to protect Sandusky and bury the story. Only after doing that did he call the AD.

"With the benefit of hindsight, I wish I had done more," Paterno said in a statement.

Done more? Heck, I wish he would have done ANYTHING.
