DeMint: Give Palin Major Speaking Role at Convention
NewsMax ^ | July 20, 2012 | By NewsMax Wires

Powerful conservative Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., thinks former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin deserves a prime speaking position at the Republican convention.

"I'd love to see Sarah Palin have a big slot — as far as speaking — because there's no one still in America that excites the base of conservatives and even libertarians as she does,” he told Fox News Thursday.

“She can draw a crowd more than any other Republican, and I think has more influence in primaries than any other endorsement right now, so I think she'd be good."

The point of her speaking would be to promote conservatism.

Supposing that she were able to do that, of what use would that
be to the Romney convention? Wouldn't the Romney folks dislike
and disavow such promotion? So why would they want her to speak.

Look, the RomneyCorps is putting this together.

It's ate-up to be outraged that they didn't invite Palin.

Of course they didn't. Duh.

In a way, if they did (Newt believes they will) I’d like to see her turn it down. Demint KNOWS without her support, Romney is burnt toast.

They'll never do it. It makes way too much sense.

I agree with Sen. DeMint. There is noone else who will draw the attention like Palin.

The use to Romney would be he could pretend to support conservatism in an election year when conservatism gets votes.

But promoting conservatism is primarily useful to conservatism.

With all respect, she doesn’t speak. She screeches in a high pitched tone. I immediately go for the off button on my TV. It hurts the ears, and my kitty cats don’t like it either.

Getting rid of that plastic, glued smile would also help.

I think it’s far too late for Romney to put this wind into his sails.

Now it would look like he had been forced to invite her. I think he has already lost what he might have otherwise gained.

My fantasy is that Palin would setup for a speech not far from the event, gives her speech at the same time as Romney’s and and pull in a much larger crowd. Of course, Newt could also speak at the Palin event.

I know that is silly and it would never happen, but it is always fun to dream. ;>)

Doubt she would say that. But I’m sure she would support the party’s presumptuous (yup, presumptuous) nominee after rousing the crowd and the nation with a truly conservative message setting herself up for 2016.

Right on Jim, It is a sad, sad state of affairs we are in.

The Democrats picked the perfect candidate for them, while ANY of the other candidates would have beat Ubama within an inch of his electoral life, they nudge the Stupid Party into picking Willard, the only one who was guaranteed to loose. But if by some act of fate he does win, that simply guarantees the Progressive take over the Republican Party, because now the Elites will say "Our Milquetoast Candidate Romney won".

So they will endlessly trot out Romney clones from now until eternity.

But with Sarah's help we can Take back the GOP for the Conservatives, and we start that now, by having her push our Conservative agenda and showing the GOP-e we will not go away.

Sarah’s not inclined to play second fiddle to anyone,

Sarah's not like that, it's about America/WeThePeople and never her so unlike the two liberal candidates. She's more gracious, I'd flip them the finger.

But I agree, she should be on the ticket. But she was very wise and has discernment, she knew, first hand, what LIAR Mitt was all about and his campaign tactics to deceive, now, so does Newt now first hand.

The “plastic glued smile” is Tina Fey.

Tina Fey was an actress portraying a caricatured version of Palin on Saturday Night Live, a few years back, and large numbers of people became confused as a result of the widespread media coverage of the skit.

She’s not the real Palin.

“(I am wearing my bulletproof vest.)”

You don’t need your vest with me, because I won’t bother to flame you. I find your kind to be a complete waste of time... other than to simply say, “piss up a rope”.

I respectfully disagree.

I believe Palin and Romney may just end up the ticket this year. It would be bold, and hold off a last-minute Hillary intrusion.

Palin would win for Romney.

Win.

Now about 2016, that is another case altogether. But for four years anyway, it’s all Romney all the time.

If Romney does (not) pick Palin as his running mate, despite all my best efforts, then all best are off, the day after he is elected.

Then it seriously becomes Palin 2016. From the very first day.

So Mitt. I’m 100% behind you, but I’m also for Ms. Palin in 2016. Either from within, or from without.

:D

And she'd improve her credentials to become Secretary of Energy, Interior, EPA.

Shove it, mittbot!

Romney doesn't have a conservative base, he has fearful repugs and liberals.

There is a big dang problem I have with Sarah. Panama Juan was not eligible to run for president. I am sure Sarah knew about this as everybody in Washington knew and yet she went ahead with running as his VP.

I don’t excuse that.

I haven't read through this thread yet but I'm going to bet the usual PDSer's won't be showing up.

That said, I'd love to see Sarah shake up this convention....and election:

I think Palin backing McCain was the most simple, sincere matter of flattery in recent history.

Palin backed McCain, who then ran a terrible campaign and lost at the end. Oh well, but that is how things went.

Yet McCain brought us Palin. For that I am and always will be thankful. But (only) for that.

Palin 2016.
:D
