DeMint: Give Palin Major Speaking Role at Convention
NewsMax ^ | July 20, 2012 | By NewsMax Wires

Posted on 07/21/2012 3:57:00 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Powerful conservative Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., thinks former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin deserves a prime speaking position at the Republican convention.

"I'd love to see Sarah Palin have a big slot — as far as speaking — because there's no one still in America that excites the base of conservatives and even libertarians as she does,” he told Fox News Thursday.

“She can draw a crowd more than any other Republican, and I think has more influence in primaries than any other endorsement right now, so I think she'd be good."

I think the ball is in her court. When Newt dropped out he “enthusiastically “ endorsed Rommey and called the campaign and offered to help the campaign in “any way possible.”

First of all, I absolutely LOVED Palin’s first speech and was so stoked that McLame chose her.

It was all downhill from there. We need a true conservative who is bulletproof from the media’s perspective. They used to say Reagan was the Teflon President because the media threw sht at him and nothing stuck. With Palin, the opposite was true.

With all due respect, I suggest you view this video of Sarah and if you’re objective about all this and look beyond her beauty, you will agree that she’s just too much fodder for ridicule by the press:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDSBtgduriM&feature=related

-—She was woefully uninformed (hadn’t heard of “The Bush Doctrine” and was running for VP????). OMG!

-—She couldn’t even answer what books/magazines/literature she reads when Katie Couric asked her (because she doesn’t read much at all). Face it, Palin is not a scholar and knows very little of world history or world politics. Her key strengths are she understands free markets and that’s about it. But she’s woefully uneducated about some key aspects of governing.

-—Speaking of which, she couldn’t even answer what the VP does in the video??? OMG!!

—Finally, notice some of the inane run-on nonsensical sentences she makes in the video. Go to 1:50 in the video:

“...we’re ill about this position that we have been put in where it is the taxpayers looking to bailout, but ultimately what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the healthcare reform that is needed to help shore up our economy.. helping the... it’s gotta be all about job creation to shoring up our economy.”

WTF??? How does healthcare reform shore up the economy? Any gov’t healthcare program damages the economy. The nonsensical speaking patterns (w/o a teleprompter) are truly embarrassing.

I hate to break it to you, but Palin is not my idea of a strong candidate because she’s got too many flaws. She’s got the right political views, but she’s better off as head of the RNC if TRUE conservatives can ever win back the Republicans who are mostly wimpy RINOs now.

Let’s focus our energy on finding true conservative candidates who are bulletproof. My choice was Herman Cain (although he too was weak on foreign policy) and I don’t know why he dropped out even though Slick Willie continued to be president when his sexual indiscretions were found.

Romney is not bulletproof either because of his flip-flops and he’s got everything the liberal media loves to hate (Rich, White, Male, Handsome).

But it looks like it’s Romney vs. Obama, so the focus has to be on a true conservative challenger to Romney in 2016.

Romney Should drop out.
_____________________________________________________________

It was on the news just a short while ago that he heard that you were calling for his withdrawal and he has scheduled a Press Conference for in the morning at 10:00 a.m. EDT to announce that he is dropping out of the Race for President of The United States. Wow!!! I’m impressed.

Starting w/I always like Sarah; yet, say asinine things like she should use a teleprompter, whatever...you are BS!

She is not running for president, yet you mittbots deliberately overlook mitt who is! His stuttering, his total lack of patriotism with no fire in him and his gutter LIBERALISM. That alone shows your priorities in this election are zero but chose to be just a babbling fool!

You mindless idiots zero in on Sarah on ANYTHING - just to trash her. Don’t ever expect anyone to take you as a serious poster or even one who gives a flip about America.

Shove your post, I read the first line - I don’t need to read anymore of your BS, dumb as rocks, dribble.

Thanks for sharing. It’s good to get update on a fine gentleman, an adult politician, which is rare these days as we see jellyfish for politicians - jellyfish representing America who have shown their non allegiance towards her, only to their crooked ways.

“They used to say Reagan was the Teflon President because the media threw sht at him and nothing stuck. With Palin, the opposite was true.”

You are on drugs in my opinion.

You have obviously forgotten the media and the rest of the left’s HATRED of Reagan. They HATED Reagan and attempted to smear him in any way possible. To say that they somehow “got” Palin somehow in comparison not “getting” Reagan is just laughable.
The media will viciously attack any real conservative. Should we then not support someone just because the gents down at the newspaper and the gents down at the university will make fun of them?

Palin can brush these attacks off, as one brushes a fly off their arm.

We need a conservative who can articulate conservative ideas to the masses as Reagan did. Palin can do that; not many others can.

Who can be excited in supporting Romney? No one. If they are smart however; they will embrace Palin and maybe actually listen a bit to her and her ideas.
I don't think they are smart however.

I was just wondering why you are spouting liberal media talking points propaganda. Are you that thoroughly brainwashed or are you a shill for the liberal GOP?

She needs a teleprompter; she is inarticulate; she is dumb e.t.c. You are such a tool. If you want to be a shill, use your head and try to come up with better talking points. At this point, you have no credibility.

These are the talking points the Rombots used two years ago. They could not praise Milt on this forum, so they tried to trash Palin, his biggest problem, in every thread.

Go ahead and do ad-homs on me (attack the messenger) because I’ve made some constructive criticisms of Palin (good as RNC Chair, but too many flaws as a candidate).

But I’m not a Rombot. Just a realist in knowing we’re stuck with Romney vs. Obama and I will do anything to oust the Kenyan fascist usurper of the POTUS.

My first choice for President would have been conservative Mike Rogers, Michigan Republican Congressman.

Back during the Obamacare debacle, he gave an OUTSTANDING RANT against Obamacare in Congress.

Listen to his ability to articulate himself and compare to Palin’s drawn-on, nonsensical sentences. This is a true “bulletproof conservative” -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G44NCvNDLfc

His speech went viral and has 7.6 MILLION views.

When I first saw his speech in 2009, I called his office and asked if he would be running for president. They said there has been talk of it, but nothing came of it obviously. Let’s hope he does in 2016.

Actually, I would say it is YOU who has forgotten that the reason they called Reagan “The Teflon President” is because he WAS SUCCESSFUL in brushing off all attacks and disarmed his opponents with his stellar wit and charm.

Palin was NOT able to brush off the ridicule because the ridicule in some cases, was correct: She continued to make vapid statements unbefitting of a VP candidate. I mean, she didn’t know what “The Bush Doctrine” was when asked. She may have been a great Alaska governor and pro-military, but clearly had no grasp of international politics. One cannot argue that point because it was true. Hence, no teflon for Palin in the 2008 election. Yes, indeed all the other greasy attacks by the media on her family were way under the belt. But she clearly was unprepared to be VP.

Of course we don’t back away from supporting a true conservative just because the media will make fun of them. But one who comes across as inarticulate and uninformed as Palin did is not bulletproof. Reagan was bulletproof.

I’m not posting these things just to badmouth Palin. Rather if the conservative movement is to be successful, we also have to be open-minded and self-critical in order to vet the best candidates against our common enemies which are greedy liberal socialists and Islamofascists.

Only in the minds of PDS sufferers.

They threw the same crap at Reagan and said he was a dunce. Again; you seem not to remember the intense hatred of him back then.

Reagan had al the qualities you describe. Plus he had knowledge and depth. On 1968 he debated obvy Kennedy, the sitting Attorney General. And he won.

If Palin would come out from behind her Fox News hideout and do things like that maybe we would start to feel more comfortable about her.

But she does have to improve her image with the general public. They think she's Tina Fey.

How can she improve an "image" she had zero to do with creating?

Palin doesn't need to "improve her image." Americans need to start improving their comprehension skills.

Willard is so, quote, “patrician” that he’s uncomfortable even being in an elevator with regular people.

Certainly he comes from a long line of "Americans" who thought themselves above serving in the American military. Zero American veterans in Romney's pedigree -- and on to his own military-age sons. All Romneys, for at least three generations, have been much too important to serve in any common military capacity -- it's beneath them.

How obvious does it have to get that voting for this guy, no matter the reason, would be a big mistake?

When something stinks, it's nature's way of warning you that it's rotten. Yet so many people have fallen hook-line-and-sinker for the ceaseless mantra drumbeat of ...

"we can't survive another four years of obama resistance would be useless if he won we can't survive another four years of obama resistence would be useless if he won we can't survive another four years of obama resistence would be useless if he won...

... that they are now conditioned to ignore every smart and right warning sign there is that they're on the verge of making a very big mistake.

Obama is WEAK. Lots of former supporters will desert him at the ballot box in 2012 (a lot will be perfectly comfortable voting for pro-global warming, pro-state-run health care, pro-gay agenda Romney -- their idea of the perfect Republican!), and as much as the MSM (and the GOP-e) try to hide, it's still happening. The odds of Obama getting a majority of the vote are slim to zero.

Wake up, folks. It's a charade.

Under the circumstances, there's only ONE way to vote, and that's to make sure whichever bastard wins, gets in on the smallest plurality possible. Lack of mandate had serious consequences for Clinton in '92 (Republician Revolution two years later) and in '96 (impeachment).

Listen to your gut. Heed your nose. Both are wise guides, and they've been telling you since 2007 that Romney is a bad apple, a rotten corpse. Vote third party. You'll forfeit any say in whether it's Obama or Romney who wins because the third party vote favors neither one (though math-challenged emoters will try to bully you into the fallacy that it does), but your vote WILL count toward reducing the popular mandate of whichever bastard wins.

Romney stinks for a reason: He's rotten to the core. Voting for him is guaranteed to be a mistake.

It's also pure and simply TRUE that there is no history of military history in Romney's family, not for at least three generations, four counting his sons. And that's not "hit piece" propaganda, Irish, that's just plain fact.

It speaks volumes about how Romney views himself with regard to the rest of us everyday Amerericans. I cannot think of a single person I know whose family has been in American for two generations or more, that doesn't have some father, grandfather, uncle, brother, son, that was in the Navy, the Army, the Marines, the Coast Guard, the Air Force -- NOT A SINGLE ONE.

To have avoided military service in an "American" family for three and four generations but to be so presumptuous as to think one deserves the U.S. Presidency, is disgusting and Romney deserves our BOOT in his ASS.

Who guards your bridge when you post?

Speaking for myself, among them have been plenty of grandparents, great-grandparents, my dad, inlaws, uncles, nephews, brothers, a step-son -- and a variation of the same is probably true of every FReeper here who was born in America.

But neither Mitt Romnney nor his sons could say that. Romneys haven't guarded any Americans' bridges since before the First World War, as far as anyone has been able to find.

Mitt Romney is good for one thing: kicking off the bridge altogether.

It’s sad that we have to twist ourselves in order to support this nominee.

Wrong. It's sad that people have been so stampeded that they think they have no other choice because "we couldn't survive another for years of Obama."

We DO have another option, and we could survive another four years of an Obama weakened and embarassed because most Americans voted for somebody else, and overpowered by a Republican conservative Congress.

That people have cowed themselves into being blind to that and are on the verge of voting for someone they know is wrong and rotten, is what's sad.
