Colorado Tea Party Patriots member Jim Holmes told The Daily Caller in a Friday interview that his day has been surreal after falsely being linked to the Batman movie massacre in Colorado by an on-air ABC News reporter.
What kind of idiot makes that kind of statement? Holmes told TheDC. Really, seriously, how do we take a journalist seriously when its pretty clear they really havent done any sort of check on their facts?
Holmes has the unfortunate coincidence of sharing a similar name with James Holmes, the 24-year-old accused of going on a rampage during a midnight showing of the Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, Colorado early Friday morning.
Because of this, ABC News Brian Ross, appearing on Good Morning America on Friday, suggested the suspect could be a member of the tea party, citing the fact that theres a Jim Holmes of Aurora, Colo., page on the Colorado Tea Party site.
But Ross had the wrong guy: The tea partier he was referring to is this 52-year-old former law enforcement officer. ABC News was forced to apologize online.
Holmes told TheDC that ABC News didnt call him before going to air and he still hasnt heard from them or received a direct apology. No, not a thing, he said.
They couldve contacted me through the Tea Party Patriots website, said Holmes, who said he only recently joined the group and started attending lectures. (RELATED: Tea party leader tells media to stop reckless and false reporting)

lolol. What kind of idiot indeed!
Get an attorney, sir. Sue the bastidges.
I’m not a fan of lawsuits but in this case I think he should lawyer up and sue their a$$e$ off. Take a bite out of media jackals.
And since when has any “journalist” ever checked their facts before reporting? How many people in and around Aurora have the same or similar name? They go and find a guy who’s a TP member and say “yep, he’s the guy” ...
ABC News and the Urinalist.
Once again, the TP exposing the ugly lying deceitful media who has no intentions of apologizing for what they did because they wanted to do it!
A basket of fruit and have him on their show for a public apology since their accusation was public doesn’t register with LIARS.
My attorney and I would already be doing the paperwork on Brian Ross, George Stephanopoulos, ABC News, or anyone else remotely involved in this fiasco. To make statements about a private individual without first obtaining the facts (especially for someone associated with the national news media) is absurd, defamatory, and inexcusable. They ought to be sued, then the individuals fired.
Sue that idiot too!!!
I think that’s the only way to curtail their deliberate false reporting of TP and conservatives - slam them with lawsuits.
Brian Ross and ABC will soon lose both their lunch and their lunch money. Stay hungry, Mr. Holmes.
WOW! LOL is right.
P*ng.
Can’t help but trip over themselves to be the first to please masta ‘Bama. Could be an 8 figure settlement.
That the shooter was a Tea Party member will achieve urban myth status just as Tina Fay’s inane comments have attached themselves unshakeably to Sarah Palin. ABC will never widely admit their wrong-doing
Stupid ABC - they were wishin’ and hopin’. Just didn’t turn out as planned now, did it?
An apology should be the FIRST thing to come of Diane Sawyer’s otherwise worthless piehole at 6:30 EST this evening...
Brian Ross is exactly what is wrong with the media today. They see something horrible happen and want to use it to their advantage to trash Republicans. This James Holmes should sue the pants off of ABC, this an was absolutely deliberate act on their part
What passes for ‘the media’ these days: reports what it should not, doesn’t report what it should.
