On @CBSEveningNews, @cbsjancrawford says Romney told her Roberts' opinion seemed political, not based on Constitution.
Oh, and I think his response rings true if one understands what is actually going on. Unfortunately, the electorate has proven over and over that it doesn’t, so you need to tailor your response to your audience.
FWIW, I’m no Romneybot. I refused to vote for him until the SCOTUS decision. I’ll now hold my nose and do what I must to remove Obama. We will then see if it does any good, which I doubt it will.

Twitter: Fascinating new 21st century tool for stating the obvious.
Romney: the king of the 3 day later comment.

I have learned, from past mistakes, that the Scripture in the Bible is really spot on when it says: “Be swift to hear and slow to speak, slow to wrath.” (James 1:19) Sometimes, wisdom dictates that we don’t spout off in anger and say something unseemly, or even stupid, that we can’t take back. In Presidential politics, one misstep can destroy your campaign. I’ll cut Romney some slack on this one. If we want someone who puts his mouth in gear before engaging his brain, we can put Chris Christie in the VP slot.
He loses either way because he passed and defended the same thing in MA. So he ends up with :”It's a tax under Obama and a fine under me”
If Romney could say :”We tried Obama-care in MA and it worked out terrible so I know first hand that we must repeal it” at least some would believe he is serious, but that would cause him problems too.
Personally I think the fine-tax debate is silly one to be having.
If Romney does something right I will point it out, but so far the empty suit candidate is not doing well at a time when any candidate should be creaming Obama.
If Romney was nuking Obama in ads and words like he did the conservative candidates I would award him a plus but I dont think he knows how to attack someone that is so similar to him in real views. Obama doesnt appear to have that limitation. There lies the problem we have,
The ruling had no effect on me, GWB picked Roberts and he wasn't as liberal as Romney was. I wasn't surprised by it.
Actually, although I am no fan of Romney or his romneycare, this is something that really does play differently at the state level and if I were him I would explain the basic reason (eloquently, of course): That states are restrained by the simple fact that if business and citizens don’t like what they do, they can move to a different state. It keeps them “more” honest. When the FedGov does it, we’re all kinda stuck. It’s why FedGov involvement in the lives of the average citizen must be kept tightly in check.
Heck, in the 19th century, the only involvement the average person had with the FedGov their entire life was sending and receiving mail.
we could flip a coin, or better yet, just let it be a bambam/mittens ticket and they could be co-presidents...
There was a front page AP article in a local paper here (MA) which insisted (from the headline) that Obamacare was indeed a mandate and that it was Romney who called it a tax.
Mitt was shoved down our throats day 1 by the GOPe.

Oh sh**, here we go again. Why do we keep blaming the GOP Elite? We did this to ourselves. First of all, no decent Conservatives ran. I voted for Newt in the TX Primary even though Romney was already the “presumptive” nominee. But, Newt’s adulterous baggage sunk him. Rick Perry was so doped up on pain pills he embarrassed the State of Texas and the GOP. Michele couldn’t get her facts straight, except when she was taking every opportunity to try and destroy her GOP opponents. Rick Santorum was so friggin’ out of touch with reality, and Herman Cain couldn’t keep his zipper up around white women. (If you’re innocent you don’t drop out of the race and run hide behind your wife and God...you stand and fight.) And, let’s not forget Kook-Daddy Paul. Where was Jim DeMint, Paul Ryan, Sarah Palin, Allen West or Bobby Jindal???? AND THE BOTTOM LINE WHY ROMNEY IS THE NOMINEE IS........
As always, one moderate runs and 10 Conservatives run because the Conservatives couldn’t unite behind a one car parade. So, the “Conservatives” destroy each other in the Primaries and the Moderate cake-walks into the nomination.
You can blame the “GOP Elite” all you want, but WE are our own worst enemy.
I am more a true believer in limitations of Federal power than most who call themselves conservatives here. Many of the precidents that allowed this ruling, many by Republicans, I oppose almost alone here. I hated the GWB single mom tax credits. I don't like his or Obama’s geen energy tax credits. I don't just flip my positions because the WH changes party. Romney isn't running against any of that either.
But now that Roberts refused to do Republicans job for them, Romney running for POTUS has to be able to explain SPECIFICALLY why Obama-care is so bad at the Federal but SPECIFICALLY good in MA as he has been forced to claim. He is not going to get away with trying it avoid the subject as he is trying too. It's too big an issue now and it's a huge part of his record to try to bury.
Romney needs to explain SPECIFICALLY : 'Why does Obama-care kill jobs but Romney-care doesnt?' or he will get creamed in the debates.
Help! I’m on a sinking raft in the middle of the Ocean and my rescue boat has almost as many holes in it!
Romney debunked that.
If he has any ex-McCain advises, they need to go. People want someone who will fight to win.

mittens is a sitting duck *if* there are indeed any debates to be endured...
likewise sick, i believe that both fed and state have different sets of limitations to their authorized powers, but neither have lived within them in generations, and the lines are too blurred for the masses to comprehend the generalities, much less the specifics of bambamcare vs its older twin brother at the state level...
first mittens would have to convince people that he wouldnt have done it differently then the bamster at the fed level in the first place, which his progressive, big gubmint heart doesnt show anyways...
in 08, even a weak empty suit like mcqueeeeeg, i believed would mash an overtly liberal, racist, and anti-American b hussein into the ground on election day, and it wasnt even close with the electorate...
today, even tho a few of his minions have jumped ship, the base is doubling down, and the mushy middle is even more disconnected and indifferent than 4 yrs ago...
mittens doesnt stand a snowballs prayer in hell, so i have even less motivation to hold my nose and damn my principles than ever...
Heh, heh. Well, let me compete with you here: I think the main job of the FedGov is to protect our borders and, at a high level, protect us from our selves (keep the states within the federal Constitution. I understand they only way they were able to get a federal highway system federally financed was to say it was for the movements of our troops but the rest of us could use it in the meantime.
I’m also against almost all tax credits/deductions, e.g. the mortgage interest deduction. One thing I liked about what Reagan did with taxes was reduce the rate the rich paid but also remove a sh**load of deduction loopholes. I’d like to see that expanded on.
—Romney needs to explain SPECIFICALLY : ‘Why does Obama-care kill jobs but Romney-care doesnt?’ or he will get creamed in the debates.—
And that is why I laughed when people would argue that of the Republican camp, Romney was the most electable. I still do, in a sort of “looks like I need to be committed” sort of way.
Well there is always chance of a July blizzard and some of the Karl Rove Crossroads third party attack ads look pretty good, and the economy is slowing down.
But Romney still has to debate and at this point he would get creamed.
“Get back to us when Romney renounces his own RomneyCare along with IT’S INDIVIDUAL MANDATE.”
Romney gave to the people of Massachusetts the crap that they wanted and they are happy with it. If you’re not from Massachusetts and you want to deny them something that they want, I suggest you go read the federalist papers and the declaration of independence.
Get back to me when Romney proposes to implement Romneycare at the national level. Until then, this whole discussion is nothing but smoke and mirrors by the pro-obama crowd to get their messiah reelected.
I can imagine our unelectable conservative Bachmann calling Obama-care the dark curse upon this nation and national slavery. Maybe Romney will pick someone like her as an attack dog who doesnt have to defend Romney-care. That would liven up the race some.
The hell with the GOP, by the time my state votes the Republican primary is over. We are not a swing state anyway.
Yes . We need to go back to 1900: We need to repeal all laws, Constitutional amendments back to 1900. . then all the regulations and government agencies that came with those laws and Constitutional amendments will vanish as they must.
