I don’t buy it personally. I read a study a few years back about just this thing happening. Guys that did it couldn’t get a fire started at all, on purpose. Only fire they managed to get started was using either tracer or other incendiaries.

No they don't, but I wouldn't put it past some idiots to shoot tracers into dry brush...I've seen it happen...on ranges where tracers were expressly forbidden.

In the last 10 or 15 years Hollywood action movies began depicting sparks igniting when bullets hit concrete, bricks, automobiles, etc. If it happens it’s rare.
