Why public's opinions on Zimmerman is shifting

SANFORD, Fla. — (MCT) For weeks, the death of Trayvon Martin, the investigations it launched and the civil rights rallies it spurred were the most important news stories in the country, according to pollsters. At least six news organizations or polling companies did surveys. What they documented, in general, was that people were fascinated and outraged by the Feb. 26 death of the unarmed 17-year-old and angry at the shooter, Neighborhood Watch volunteer George Zimmerman. Two sets of findings, though, stand out: Although it was the No. 1 story in the country overall, twice as many blacks as whites singled it out as the country's most important story, according to the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press. And as time has passed and more evidence has been released, people's feelings about Zimmerman have eased. Where’s counsel in this picture? I thought O’Mara volunteered, or semi-volunteered (offered cut rate?). Is there a conflict with this judge, refusing to give fair consideration to O’Mara’s motions? This is sad but as the system is structured it will have to wait for a trial before the appellates can weigh in. Sometimes one might get the idea that the appellate court is watching, all facepalms, at this train wreck.

My staunch support of Zimmerman was a reaction to watching the media, the angry mob, and by my perception the Justice Department was more than likely working it’s magic behind the scenes here.

If it is shown Zimmerman was truly at fault in this situation, and I don’t mean just not minding the police dispatcher, I’ll sign on to him doing time.

I believe a grand jury was called for here. I’m not convinced there is enough evidence to warrant what is going on now. We will see.

Zimmerman is Catholic. Back in VA, he used to be an altar boy. As anybody following the story would know.

Someone doesn’t need to be an alabaster saint in order to be worthy of backing their endeavors. I hope that is not the issue here, Doughty. I hope Zimmerman manages to successfully negotiate the challenges and gets not just exonerated but vindicated in the Trayvon matter.

But somehow it’s getting insinuated that there are some possible issues I *must* turn a blind eye to or else be ostracized. And if those are the terms, well I submit to the ostracism; I prefer that to being a blind ideologue for anybody, “right wing” or otherwise, short of Jesus Christ personally.

I hjave no idea- it boggles them idn that counsel is allowing hte press to try this case in public without offering to set the record straight- The prosecutor has NO problem spouting off at htem outh in public press meetings giving her opinion, and pattign herself on the back every oportunity she gets- but defense has been eerily silent through htis all- and I’m beginning to wonder if he’s brilliant enough to handle this case? He should, by all rights, be demolishing hte prosecutions FALSE claims adn outright LIES (which he kind of did when hte charges were4 brought agaisnt george and it was shown that law enforcement LIED and then tried to cover it up) but sicne then I’ve not heard a peep fro mthe defense as george gets ripped to shreds i nthe public mind thanks to unscroupulous media and a prosecution who is engaging in blatant prosecutorial misconduct- and last time I looked, it is a crime to conduct prosecutorial misconduct? Why is Corey even still on this case?

This case stibnks to high heaven- Granted, George is ‘acting stupidly’, however, his actions have NO bearign o nthe FACT that he HAD to defend himself with deadly force because a THUG was ontop of him trying to murder him- That is THE issue i nthis case, not whether George or his wife supoposedly lied to hte court or even tried to move money around- The judge had the responsibility to find otu whether the money in the paypal account could be conciderted personal income or not, and he and hte prosecution FAILED to find out, and now they are blamign THEIR mistake on wife? The judge esswentially absolved the wife of having to disclose the money i nthe paypal accouint when he told her it wasn’t necessary to call the brother in law- it was at that point that the judge took it upo0n himself to find out the legality of using that money as a determination for bond

So, how did his other site(s) read?

Was there a second site, feeding into a GZ Paypal account, with a different fund raising appeal?? We need links and screenshots.

The only other site I'm aware of is the one O'Mara put up, gzlegalcase.com. It's not relevant here, since it was set up after the events in question. However, on 1 May, it did post the following (emphasis added):

An independent administrator has been chosen to oversee the George Zimmerman Defense Fund. The third-party administrator is a former IRS agent, and currently works as a CPA with experience managing Chapter 7 Trustee Funds.

The legal defense fund, as initially envisioned by George Zimmerman, as stated on his now-closed website, was set up to provide for living expenses and to fund costs and legal fees associated with his defense. This will also be the purpose of the new legal defense fund.

The fund's administrator will have sole discretion regarding the dispersal of funds, and guidelines will be put in place to define reasonable living expenses for Mr. Zimmerman and his family and to fund necessary legal expenses. Neither Mr. Zimmerman nor The O’Mara Law Group will have direct access to the funds.

There will be a strict level of confidentiality regarding those who donate to the George Zimmerman Defense Fund as their active donating is regarded as a private event and does not open them to public scrutiny.

While we are recommending a level of transparency regarding the use of these funds, that transparency is most appropriately afforded to the donors, as they are the source of the funds utilized.
