BALTIMOREA Maryland man faces trial in a $9.1 million fraud case that is shedding light on problems in a renewable energy credits program run by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Federal prosecutors accuse Rodney Hailey of Perry Hall of selling renewable fuel credits even though his company, Clean Green Fuel LLC, did not produce any renewable fuel. Instead, prosecutors say he pocketed the money and bought Ferraris and other luxury cars, as well as tractor-trailers, homes, jewelry and computers.

This guy is a genius.
It’s the idiots that bought into it that should have have their heads examined.

If I were him I’d demand that they prove what fuel is “renewable.” Are they talking about burning magazine subscriptions? insurance policies? A good lawyer could have a lot of fun with this.

Since its a scam how can he be accused of scamming a scam? I agree I think he got the general idea of the program just about right. It's supposed to be a rip off.

Right now I’m announcing I’m in the energy indulgence (OOPS, credit) business. I have two large dogs, on an 85 lb. Pitador and the other a 102 lb. Great Dane. As you might surmise, they fart a lot. I will generously well each of you my credits at a mere $100 apiece and use the proceeds to buy Beano and other essentials. Each certificate will be nicely printed on m ink jet printer and will bear the genuine paw prints of each of my dogs. WHAT A DEAL, YOU’RE IN ISRAEL.

Instead, prosecutors say he pocketed the money and bought Ferraris and other luxury cars, as well as tractor-trailers, homes, jewelry and computers. In other words, he put 'energy credits' to better use than so called legit companies who sell them?
