Lavaca County authorities on Friday identified the 47-year-old man who was caught molesting a girl and then beaten to death by the child's father.
Jesus Mora Flores was killed on the afternoon of June 9 on a rural farm pasture on County Road 302 between Shiner and Yoakum.
In a press release issued Friday, authorities said Flores was attempting to sexually assault the girl, whose age was corrected by officials Friday to be 5 years old.
"When emergency medical personnel arrived, Jesus Mora Flores' pants and underwear were down and the man's genitals were exposed," said Lavaca County Sheriff Micah Harmon, who was quoted in a press released issued by District Attorney Heather McMinn.
Flores had been hired by the child's father to care for horses on the property, according to a neighbor.
A public records search shows no permanent address for Flores in Lavaca County.
The press release also confirms that law enforcement officials discovered a witness to the attacks, but does not identify that person.
Investigators found that "a witness observed Jesus Mora Flores forcibly carrying a 5-year-old child off to a secluded area, the witness ran for help and alerted the child's father."
The father then heard the child's scream and ran to help her, the release said. The father then "immediately removed Jesus Mora Flores from on top of his child" and inflicted "several blows" to the man's head and neck area.
The release stated that all of the physical evidence and witness statements in the case corroborated the father's statement.
Harmon said Flores was not in the United States illegally and possessed a permanent resident card - more widely known as a green card.
The sheriff said his office has been working with Mexican Consulate officials to locate Flores' family.
Complete results of the autopsy conducted in Travis County are not expected for several weeks.
Harmon said the girl's family and father have cooperated with authorities.
McMinn said in the press release that Harmon "made the right decision in not arresting the father at the time of the incident."
The girl's father remains remorseful about Flores' death, said Harmon, who said he expects a grand jury to hear the case next week.
"This case has been very traumatizing on the child, her father and his entire family," he said.
Amen!
Great post!!, i may want copy it to my hometown newzpaper comments.
I’d check the horses this guy was supposed to be taking care of. He was probably having his way with them, too.
Maybe if the father was armed he could have pulled the guy off and then held him at gunpoint, but since he had no way of knowing the guy’s mental state, he could have been attacked and incapacitated and both he and his daughter would be in danger. With the added danger of drugs that turn people into superhuman zombies, the dad did everything right, based on what he saw of the situation. I’m happy the dad rescued his daughter. The daughter knows that she is loved and that her dad holds her in high enough regard that he would do anything he could to protect her. All children should feel this secure with their parents.
OMG!!!!
(Obama Must Go)
No matter what, the father stopped this child rapist from repeating his crime again and again. Most people know full well that most child rapists end up with multiple victims and destroy many lives before they are through.
This event may not have been this child rapist's first rape.
Thank goodness it is his last!
It proves once again,
DON’T MESS WITH TEXAS
DON’T MESS WITH TEXANS
DON’T MESS WITH TEXAS KIDS
DON’T MESS WITH MY KIDS
I’m really surprised that Senior Flores was even identifiable!
We have evolved from GET A ROPE! :)
Prayers up for this father and his daughter. My heart goes out to both of them.
May God forgive me for not praying for the perp. I wonder how many assaults he has committed in the past without getting caught....
That’s one less sicko illegal. The dad did the world a favor.
So in other words the dad would have been legally in the clear had he killed the perv first (by, say, splitting his head in two with a crowbar) THEN pulled the body off his daughter ...
No, this malignant pervert had a U.S. government green card so he could do the job that Americans won’t do. Does that make you feel better?
If George Soros had a son, he would act like Flores.
Not so fast Johnny Cochran. Since there are no witnesses.... It's obvious that Mr Flores continued to be a threat AFTER being pulled off the child.
Case dismissed.
He should feel okay since he was lucky enough to save his daughter.
As for remorse, maybe, but it’s the right thing to say.
Sadly, good point.
Correct that the law covers the use of force to prevent commission of the crimes mentioned. However, the father had pulled the scum off of his daughter through the use of force and stopped the commission of the crime. At that point, technically, he should of stopped. He is legally vulnerable for each blow he threw afterward.
The law is always written w/o emotions.. black and white. But human beings are born w/and establish reactions in time...to their emotions that they deem necessary and satisfing to equal the offense against themselves or someone they love. This man,a father,....this is his baby, will do anything,...stand against ten men!...to punish the attempted desecration against his defenseless baby girl. It was a normal reaction to who a father IS!
That’s why we have everyday people w/emotions on juries to JUDGE the laws.
Yes I agree w/you...this is a no bill for the Grand Jury.
I agree, and given the nature of sexual perverts, the man not only saved his own daughter but countless other little girls in the future.
Good for him.
That's what I say too. Anyone that rapes a 5 year old deserves a lot worse than what this pervert got.
B******it.
There was no way to determine if the rapist was going initiate force against the father and is daughter to hide his crime or continue it. The father was COMPLETELY JUSTIFIED for continuing to strike the rapist until he was certain the threat was ended.
The fact that the worm died is just a bonus.
thks
