Top Republican Haley Barbour didnt know it the time, but he unwittingly gave a robust endorsement Friday morning to the Obama administrations surprise decision to give work permits to hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants working in the U.S.
Speaking at a breakfast with political reporters before the news broke, the former Mississippi governor and onetime Republican Party chairman launched into a robust argument on how to fix the nations immigration system, a position he portrayed as sharply different from that his partys presidential nominee, Mitt Romney, and that of most other Republicans.
America is in a global battle for capital and labor, he said, praising the work ethic of the millions of Hispanics who have come to the U.S. without proper documentation, including the many who work in Mississippis poultry factories. We need more people in America who want to work.
Mr. Romney struck a strict immigration posture during the primary campaign, praising undocumented workers who self deported and opposing the Dream Act that proposed granting certain rights to the children of some illegal immigrants.
Mr. Barbour, at a breakfast sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor, said it was necessary to create a path to security for people who have been here for some time by issuing them work permits and creating a guest worker program.

Met this dude at an event.
Wasn’t impressed, especially, when it was discussed he might run for President.
Anyone that supports what the “criminal in chief” just enacted, knows nothing about the rule of law or the Constitution.
We do have immigration laws and Obama just violated them. We do have a Congress, a co-equal branch of govt., that Obama just circumvented.
He jeopardized our national security and committed crimes against the people of the United States.
Those chicken factory owners sure speak with a loud voice in Mississippi and everywhere they exist. Also include the beef and pork meatpackers, the carpet factories, the hotels and restaurants, the farms and assorted factories. This must be paradise for the cheap labor patrones who quickly became addicted to the heroine of cheap illegal labor.
Before curing the disease scientists first have to find the cause. If we follow the bread crumb trail of all of these faux conservatives then we will find the cause of the RINO disease. Follow the money!
Scary that people were trying to push this throat-logenze for president
Barbour has always been Pro-Illegal/Anti-American. He was once a lobbyist for the Mexican Government...
Nothing surprises me - Bush wanted amnesty, Juan McCain wanted amnesty, Romney, well it depends on what month and who he is speaking to on what he favors. These are people who did or hold leadership positions within the GOP. They don’t support such things unless they have the backing of other GOP elites.
