Recently, the National Association for Gun Rights was the first to break the incredible story of the suspension of a man's Second Amendment rights in Shreveport, Louisiana.
At the time, no other gun rights organization bothered to expose this violation of Second Amendment freedoms. But when we tracked down the victim, Robert Baillio, for an interview, we couldn't believe what we heard, and we immediately sent out a nationwide alert.
The story went viral overnight.
If this tale of government abuse moves you, send it to a friend or family member to get the word out.
Welcome to Shreveport: Your rights are now suspended According to Cedric Glover, Mayor of Shreveport, Louisiana, his cops "have a power that the President of these United States does not have."
Mayor Glover claimed his police officers had the power to take away certain rights.
And would you like to guess which rights he had in mind?
Just ask Shreveport resident Robert Baillio, who was pulled over for having two pro-gun bumper stickers on the back of his truck -- and had his gun confiscated.
While the officer who pulled him over says Baillio failed to use his turn signal, the only questions he had for Baillio concerned guns: Whether he had a gun, where the gun was and if he was a member of a pro-gun organization.

It's hard for me to believe that a Louisiana cop and mayor would make such a blatant challenge to the recent USSC decisions in re the 2nd Amendment which established what everyone who reads English knows is true, to wit, the 2nd Amendment protects the right of the American people to keep and bear arms. If the email article is correct, where is the NRA when the very right it professes to protect is flat out denied to a law abiding American citizen?
I don't belong to the organization that emailed me the article and i have never heard of it until now. I have come to suspect almost any material that comes to me via email, but something seems to tell me that the article may well be true. I hope it isn't, but these days I don't put anything past anyone in government at any level from a LA mayor's desk up to the current Oval Office occupant himself.
Answer is - don’t live in a blue state.
If you think that Louisiana is blue, what is your definition of red?
Well if it’s really Dudley Brown, then I’m inclined to believe it.
I’m thinking of those states with more liberal gun laws where crime is way lower than those states with very strict gun laws where crime is higher, say, Illinois or New York.
Which blue state is that?
I am very famiiar with shreveport and this story doesn’t sound right. Of course its possible. Police are not immune from being jerks and being wrong just like the rest of the population. I would at least want to hear the other side (police).
You must be colored blind.
We don't have any unreasonably strict gun laws here in GA. In fact the requirements for obtaining a GA license to carry a gun either concealed or openly were significantly loosened during the last two sessions of the GA Assembly. I have always assumed that the gun laws of deep south states such as LA would be less stringent than those of states north of the Mason-Dixon line, not more so. Apparently my assumption was wrong.
I just saw this from GLSauron at hardforum:
The correct answer is ‘Where the hell do you get off thinking you can tell me I can’t own a gun? I don’t care if every other gun owner on the planet went out and murdered somebody last night. I didn’t. So piss off.’
Property is the fruit of labor...property is desirable...a positive good in the world. That some should be rich shows that others may become rich, and hence is just encouragement to industry and enterprise. Let not him who is houseless pull down the house of another; but let him labor diligently and build one for himself, thus by example assuring that his own shall be safe from violence when built.
I find the article very plausible.
I’ve experienced a similar level of contempt for my RKBA even here in Nevada, in the “Most conservative county” in the state.
Our sheriff talks a great game of supporting our RKBA, but his “Sheriff’s Association” and other actions betray him as actually being as anti-gun as he can be and still get reelected.
It appears he would LIKE to be a “Fudd”, guns only for himself, and hunting.
Well, this is an article about a city in Louisiana, which does have fairly liberal gun laws, which are destined to get even more liberal, not Illinois or New York. Given that, I still don’t understand your comment.
Nuff Said.
All you need to know about NAGR.
With this fat bastard in charge, The Bandit and Cletus are going to have to find another beer distributor to rob the next time Big and Little Enos get thirsty!
I think there may be more to this story.
Sadly, this charge is all too believable for LA- Remember Katrina, when the imported federales confiscated the privately owned guns of the residents?
It wasn’t the federal govt that did the confiscating. It was local cops and the vigilante cop gangs from northern states.
