Once-secret emails from Mitt Romney's time as governor that were revealed today spurred a flurry of comments about the candidate's support for the so-called individual mandate. Yet there's another issue that's been revived: Romney's secrecy.
When Romney left the governor's office in Massachusetts, his staff erased all the emails from a computer server and bought the hard drives used to store data, so that their correspondence would stay hidden.
Or so they thought.
Tom Trimarco, Romney's administration and finance secretary, never deleted his emails. Some of them surfaced today in The Wall Street Journal, which submitted a public information request for emails involving Trimarco and officials in the administration.
The emails show that Romney was neck-deep in negotiations to get his health care bill passed, that he personally wrote op-eds about it, and that he defended the so-called individual mandate to buy health insurance, a provision in President Obama's law that has drawn criticism from Republicans.

Hey, you’re the one who made the comment. I just agreed with it.
Well said.
I have to admit that I do care, and it's why I'm here so passionately trying to articulate an option that is a strategic risk, but IMO, less risky than the horrible spectre of Romney winning a majority or worse, winning in a landslide.
I pray that in the next five months, Republicans get over their hysteria and panic and start getting a grip on the REAL challenge that will face us if it ends up being O vs R in the general, because the guaranteed outcome will be an anti-conservative in the White House -- maybe a Democrat, maybe a Republican, but for sure an enemy of the limited government coservatives I trust ALL of us here are voting for down-ticket.
If Romney wins by majority, and much more so if he wins by a landslide, those limited government conservatives would have to fight a constant two-front war against the advance of cap-and-trade global warming regulation, abortion on demand, nationalized health care, activist judges, and the gay agenda: Democrats, and Romney's administration and the moderate Republicans who hold with his "progressive" philosophy.
If Romney is opposed so much that he only wins by a 38% plurality, at least he would be weakened and put on the defensive. If Obama wins by a 38% plurality, considering how much he is held in contempt by so many Americans including Democrats who regret voting for him last time, he would be really vulnerable AND limited government conservatives would be really strengthened because voters made it clear that Romney's kind of Republican "don't go around here." You'd see moderate Republicans (to save their own skins) scrambling to the right so fast that greased lightening would be left behind. Even moderate Democrats would start moving away from the left.
I CARE what others do -- I hope they will vote for the specific purpose of HELPING limited government conservatives in Congress fight whichever anti-conservative candidate gets the White House, and the only way I can think of to do that with my presidential vote is to vote third party to force as politically devastating a plurality on the "winner" as possible, empowering the "winner's" opponents on both sides of the aisle and making him weak, defensive, and vulnerable.
As things look right now, that's about the best option we conservatives have.
Thanks Greyfoxx. I actually had to recompose it after our power blinked out. Darn near had it finished, too. I’m glad I was able to pull all of my thoughts back together.
I agree.
And, I was very pleased to learn of a very qualifed candidate right here at Free Republic - Tom Hoefling!
My vote for Mr. Hoefling will have much greater impact than a vote for either of the two “major” candidates.
Good post. Well said.
Right on, right on, right on.
No, you tried to twist what I wrote by using the fallacy of the undistributed middle.
So let's say Romney wins with a majority or by a landslide.
If that happened, where would Obama be on our national radar by, say, January of 2014? And what kind of progress would Republicans be making toward the goal of shrinking government and of shrinking the forces behind its presumptuous encroachment of our rights, including our right to handle our own medical and health needs, and the right to live morally as we see fit (without increasingly forced acceptance of abortion and open homosexuality)? What position do you think Romney would take if those issues come up?
Let's say Romney wins. A year or two into his term, will Republicans be winning the war against cap-and-trade global warming regulation in 2014, and how much will we be thinking of Obama then? What position do you think Romney would take on cap-and-trade if the question came up?
Remember that this is an individual who is morally okay with using government to make it so any female in Mass. can have a taxpayer-provided on-demand abortion; if she's underage and her parents object, Romney is on record as saying that minor should be able to go to a judge to try to have her parents' denial overturned. That's the morality of the guy put in place to lead the Republican party in all such decisions and more.
I defer to you, I’m sure you can explain it to me on a level I will comprehend albeit not likely to embrace wholeheartedly.
It appears that OPRAH has done her work well...
Yet...
16, Exaltation is gained through the new and everlasting covenant; 714, The terms and conditions of that covenant are set forth; 1520, Celestial marriage and a continuation of the family unit enable men to become gods; 2125, The strait and narrow way leads to eternal lives; 2627, The law is given relative to blasphemy against the Holy Ghost; 2839, Promises of eternal increase and exaltation are made to prophets and Saints in all ages; 4047, Joseph Smith is given the power to bind and seal on earth and in heaven; 4850, The Lord seals upon him his exaltation; 5157, Emma Smith is counseled to be faithful and true; 5866, Laws governing the plurality of wives are set forth.
16Therefore, when they are out of the world they neither marry nor are given in amarriage; but are appointed angels in bheaven, which angels are ministering cservants, to minister for those who are worthy of a far more, and an exceeding, and an eternal weight of glory.
17For these angels did not abide my law; therefore, they cannot be enlarged, but remain separately and singly, without exaltation, in their saved condition, to all eternity; and from henceforth are not gods, but are aangels of God forever and ever.
18And again, verily I say unto you, if a man marry a wife, and make a covenant with her for time and for all eternity, if that acovenant is not by me or by my word, which is my law, and is not sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise, through him whom I have anointed and appointed unto this power, then it is not valid neither of force when they are out of the world, because they are not joined by me, saith the Lord, neither by my word; when they are out of the world it cannot be received there, because the angels and the gods are appointed there, by whom they cannot pass; they cannot, therefore, inherit my glory; for my house is a house of order, saith the Lord God.
19And again, verily I say unto you, if a man amarry a wife by my word, which is my law, and by the new and beverlasting covenant, and it is csealed unto them by the Holy Spirit of dpromise, by him who is anointed, unto whom I have appointed this power and the ekeys of this priesthood; and it shall be said unto themYe shall come forth in the first resurrection; and if it be after the first resurrection, in the next resurrection; and shall inherit fthrones, kingdoms, principalities, and powers, dominions, all heights and depthsthen shall it be written in the Lambs gBook of Life, that he shall commit no hmurder whereby to shed innocent iblood, and if ye abide in my covenant, and commit no murder whereby to shed innocent blood, it shall be done unto them in all things whatsoever my servant hath put upon them, in time, and through all eternity; and shall be of full force when they are out of the world; and they shall pass by the angels, and the gods, which are set there, to their jexaltation and glory in all things, as hath been sealed upon their heads, which glory shall be a fulness and a continuation of the kseeds forever and ever.
20 Then shall they be gods, because they have no end; therefore shall they be from aeverlasting to everlasting, because they continue; then shall they be above all, because all things are subject unto them. Then shall they be bgods, because they have call power, and the angels are subject unto them.
21Verily, verily, I say unto you, except ye abide my alaw ye cannot attain to this glory.
22For astrait is the gate, and narrow the bway that leadeth unto the exaltation and continuation of the clives, and few there be that find it, because ye receive me not in the world neither do ye know me.
23But if ye receive me in the world, then shall ye know me, and shall receive your exaltation; that awhere I am ye shall be also.
24This is aeternal livesto bknow the only wise and true God, and Jesus Christ, whom he hath csent. I am he. Receive ye, therefore, my law.
25aBroad is the gate, and wide the way that leadeth to the bdeaths; and many there are that go in thereat, because they creceive me not, neither do they abide in my law.
Well; if they are of the MORMON 'faith'; it's easy to understand.
If they are of the 'christian' faith; it seems they are more worried about what happens on Earth, now; rather than what will occur in Heaven, later.
Well, you’re willing to vote for the guy — why would you shy away from pondering what-ifs if he wins?
Please, how about explainign that jibe. As one who will vote for the Milt Rominy ticket to prevent little barry from ending the Republic, it would be instructive of you to explain to me how that is adding or subtracting from my eternla destiny. Don’t be shy, tell me.
And to you this is my last recognition of a reply: the condescension you post is almost amusing. I can almost see you reaching to pat me on the head. So since you are so superior I won’nt even try to discuss the issues as I see them since they will surely be so juvenile as to warrant more of your condescending teaching, and I’m not int he mood. So now I’ll just wait for Elsie to preach to me. Have Nice Day
Boo Hoo!
How lame are their god(s); if they can't take a little thing like that?
Ever.

I did not mean for any of it to be a jibe; just the way I am analyzing what I'm reading here.
YOUR eternal destiny is not likely to be affected.
The ED's of others, that may be seduced into MORMONism because of the high honor that the United States of America places upon it's leader, may have differing results.
Since Barry has effectively removed himself from the religious scene, he won't likely cause others to follow the spiritual path he has traveled.
