Once-secret emails from Mitt Romney's time as governor that were revealed today spurred a flurry of comments about the candidate's support for the so-called individual mandate. Yet there's another issue that's been revived: Romney's secrecy.
When Romney left the governor's office in Massachusetts, his staff erased all the emails from a computer server and bought the hard drives used to store data, so that their correspondence would stay hidden.
Or so they thought.
Tom Trimarco, Romney's administration and finance secretary, never deleted his emails. Some of them surfaced today in The Wall Street Journal, which submitted a public information request for emails involving Trimarco and officials in the administration.
The emails show that Romney was neck-deep in negotiations to get his health care bill passed, that he personally wrote op-eds about it, and that he defended the so-called individual mandate to buy health insurance, a provision in President Obama's law that has drawn criticism from Republicans.

Agreed.

How can you be moderately conservative?
There is no such thing.
You might as well say you are severely conservative.
MHG, there you go again.
How is strategically voting to weaken the victory of the next guaranteed anti-conservative President in order to ASSIST limited government conservatives advance their agenda, "an ego trip" bent on "teaching us all a lesson"?
Answer: It isn't. You are just too upset and hysterical to consider anything but ABO, hence all you can do is respond with personal insults.
It does no good to try and reason or argue with the ABO folks. That's very much like trying to reason with a religious fanatic. We will have many, many opportunities in the next few months to post the attacks that the Obama campaign will make against Romney, as the Flying Inmans have known for several years.
WE know what Romney really is and they will possibly find out in the long run. We can only keep on keepin' on and ignore the vitriol.
yaaawnnnnn
Pride and conscience are two entirely different things. If there were no vital principles involved, if this was really just about team pride, I would agree with you. But for some of us (a small minority I think), voting for Romney is simply not possible. For us it would literally be like making the opposite choice that Jesus made when he was tempted with the vision of the world’s political powers. All he had to do was “swallow his pride” and give a nod to the Devil. He refused, because nothing is worth what you lose when you compromise with evil. God comes first, no matter the price. Politicians get the leftovers. just the way it is.
Cut and dried. What happened during the primaries between all the various factions here on FR supporting “their” candidates, is happening again, only now, it's orders of magnitude worse.
Now you get to be called a socialist, commie loving, anti-American, [insert other favorite pejoratives here].
Ain't life on FR grand?
Neither of these politicians are god. One is destructive of the highest order.
RomneyCARE represents .... RomneyCARE and
Romney’s hyperliberal agenda.
NOPE. WILL NOT BE VOTING FOR ROMNEY.
Back in '07-08, I often pointed out the hostile, devious, ugly, insulting, bullying posts that were the unique MO of true Romney sycophants (no other candidate's supporters, not Giuliani or Thompson or Huckabee or McCain or Hunter, came remotely close in consistently nasty vitriol) in order to alert lurkers and others that the behavior of a candidate's supporters speaks volumes about the candidate.
My purpose here is similar. Pointing out when otherwise sensible people go temporarily hostile-blind is illustrative and a good warning flag of the sad, desperate mindset behind ABO. The more people observe the foundation of ABO and the self-destrucive action needed to nourish it, the more they will realize that ABO is as dumb as voting for an orange juice can.
Republicans need to stop panicking and start regrouping to come up with a strategic calculated risk that will HELP limited government conservatives in Congress fight whichever anti-conservative wins the presidency. The best way to do that is to make sure the next president, a guaranteed anti-conservative (barring a miracle), goes into office as weak and defensive as possible.
Still, your advice is well said and well recieved. THANK YOU.
The Roman Catholic Church has in Canon Law made material cooperation with abortion a mortal sin (one which, if unrepented, merits eternity in hell). BOTH obozo and Myth Romney are trying to force Catholic bishops and Catholics administering the Church's educational, social work and other ministries to provide insurance coverage for that which is mortally sinful. This leaves the options as: live a life of mortal sin with each check paid for Mythcare or Obozocare or go to jail and have Church property confiscated. This in a country with the First Amendment guarantees of religious freedom.
Francis Cardinal George of Chicago wrote two years ago that he expected to die in bed, that he expected his immediate successor to die in prison and the next successor after that to be martyred in the public square. He has also indicated that he will close altogether any Catholic institution so oppressed rather than fund the demands of these idiots of either party that the Church fund abortion, sterilization, IUDs, birth control, etc.
You may personally disagree with the RCC on its dogmas in these respects but the First Amendment does not allow you or Myth Romney or Obozo to persecute the Church for its beliefs. Catholics are 28% or so of the population. Southern Baptists are another 17%. Then there are non-denominational Evangelicals, many Pentecostals, Missouri and Wisconsin Synod Lutherans, Westminster Presbyterians, Orthodox Christians, Orthodox Jews, the vast majority of Mormons who, unlike Myth Romney are genuinely pro-life and pro-family, Jehovah's Witnesses, Christian Scientists, many non-denominational Christians, and many other fine pro-life and pro-family folks of other religions or none at all who unite in defense of the babies.
I would say that other than blue-lipped, homo, jug-eared and hates his wife, the rest of your descriptions of Obozo apply to Myth as well. While Ron Paul supporters can pound sand, it would be best for them to maintain their integrity and serve a useful purpose consistent with their principles. Maybe they would vote for Gary Johnson as a Libertarian who agrees with Paul on most issues. In any event no principled person of ANY persuasion should be caught living or dead voting for Obozo OR Myth Romney.
If this election turns on my vote, I guess you and Myth and Obozo are screwed as you suggest. I owe the GOP nothing whatsoever and will never again vote for any GOP-E POS like Romney again. If the GOP wants my vote, it will just have to earn it. When enough Republicans take this position, we will no longer be presented with the likes of Myth Romney, John McCain, Robert Dole, Bush the Elder, Gerald Ford or Richard Nixon, among others.
In addition to the aforementioned issues, the absolutely despicable nature of Romney's primary campaign of lies and bullying ripped it for me permanently. This nation is in ruins (if at all) BECAUSE the only major party opposition is Demonrat in GOP drag trash like Romney. If lack of my vote and that of other actual conservatives hurts Muffy's trust fund, tooooo bad.
That's our kinda STUFF!
What an excellent post. WELL SAID.
“Neither of these politicians are god.”
But both think they are, or will be, a god. That makes it impossible for me to vote for either of them. The Apostolic teaching says when you give support, no matter how slight, to those who bring a false doctrine of Christ, you become a partaker of their evil deeds. See 2 John 1:10-11.
No Christian who cares about his relationship with God can willfully violate his conscience and get away with it. You may argue my conscience is malformed, but until it changes, until I can find a way around those Scriptures that incriminate me for supporting either of those two lying, baby-killing, deity wannabes, I will have no choice but to look for some other option.
I don’t want to be here. I would love for someone to find that missing verse from the Bible that says you can occasionally wink at the Devil and God wont care, especially if its a really big huge political crisis.
But I have found no such verse in my Bible. And really, I would be disappointed in God if I did. It would make me question whether he was serious about his insistence on doing the right thing no matter what.
Put the shoe on the other foot. What would you do to save the country? If you knew that doing a particular evil act would prevent America from sinking whole into the sea, what evil act would you be willing to do to save the lives of all those innocent people? Some perverse sexual act forbidden by Scripture? Some act of violence against an innocent person? Bowing down to a rock and calling it God?
Do you really think God would make you do something evil so that something good would come of it? Especially when he has told us plainly in Scripture we are never to use that kind of ends-justifies-the-means reasoning?
God doesnt work that way. He insists we have faith in Him. Whatever is not of faith is sin. If I set aside faith, and act out of fear for the country, or as a cowardly act of submission to bullying, it is sin to me. It separates me from God. I won’t go there. I will not base my vote on fear, but on faith. I will do what is right and let God worry about the consequences. What else can I do?
