A bill that would close an IRS tax credit loophole that allows the IRS to funnel over $4 billion to illegal immigrants is being held up by Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV).
Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), a senior member of the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Ranking Member of the Senate Budget Committee, has been vocal in his disdain for the blatant misuse of taxpayer monies:
Im disappointed that the Majority Leader objected to our effort today to prevent billions in tax credits from being wrongly sent to illegal immigrants claiming they have dependents, many of whom do not live in the US

If this republic was established for the people and by the people, then this is nothing but treason against the people.
No, he should be dragged out of his office and kicked in the nuts!
And that ws after the GOPe had given Sharon such glowing support, right?</Tokyo Rove & Friends>
Based on these oft repeated claims, I really need to find and shut down that transmogrifier (http://calvinandhobbes.wikia.com/wiki/Transmogrifier) we supposedly need to have in order to create the vast numbers of liberals “infesting” other states.
Everytime some FReeper complains about the turn in electorate in their state, it’s those “damned liberal Californians”.
Sheesh, if I added up the numbers, I’m sure we’d be up to about 2 or 3 trillion Californians by now.
Population of Nevada in 1980 was 800,493
Population of Nevada in 2010 was 2,700,551
I’m pretty sure Nevadans were not boinking like bunny rabbits over the last 30 years, so people came from somewhere to more than triple the population.
Guess Nevada like those illegals.
Just wait til it hurts them.
Can’t happen to a nicer state.
Dang, you’re on to our scheme.
We’re secretly creating and shipping all them liberals out to all of those so-called “conservative” states so that CA can become a “red” state once again at your expense.
Yeah, yeah, that’s the ticket.
I need to move the transmogrifier before someone finds it. Our evil plan to “liberalize” the USA must not be thwarted!
why is anyone surprised?
Good point. But that hardly matters to Dems that rely on the Dead vote every election and consider the ends to justify illegal means.
On a more general note, why is there a child tax credit at all ? Shouldn’t people who choose to have children provide for those children without the government taking money from childless taxpayers to hand it over to people who chose to be parents ?
Let’s eliminate not just the fraudulent claiming of tax credits, but ALL tax credits. No more social engineering. Let individuals make their own choices and live with the consequences without the government trying to bribe them or punish them for their life choices.
I disagree; a tax credit for a familys minor children is good policy.
What I dont get is these fraudulent tax returns. A SS# must be attached with each deduction but no government verification its valid to that family.
These liars are walking away with billions of our money and the government aint doing squat.
Remember this, Reid cheated to win. If not for the power outage, enabling hacks to reset the numbers on election night, Sharron Angle would be a NV senator.

I’d like to hear your logic behind taking a nickel out of my pocket to gave it to a parent ?
Since the vast majority of the people who use this tax credit wind up not paying ANY federal income tax at all...
You can’t include SS and medical deductions are not used for the general fund
In my book EVERYBODY needs to pay some tax if they earn an income...even 1 percent would be fair...
“Im pretty sure Nevadans were not boinking like bunny rabbits over the last 30 years, so people came from somewhere to more than triple the population.”
Most of the increase in is Clark County ( Las Vegas), and it is illegals working at the hotels. Trouble is, the place is on the financial skids ( I know because my family has a major business there). One home in four is in foreclosure and you can buy a new home for half what a foreclosed property is going for. The economy there is what’s driving their 14% unemployment and yet they re-elect Reid. Go figure. My guess, unions!
“a tax credit for a familys minor children is good policy.”
Tax credits for people with children means higher taxes for people without children. Why do you think this is good policy ?
Think about all the roaming bands of teenage thugs robbing stores and beating people on the streets in flash mobs. Clearly there are people out there who should never have been encouraged to have kids. Child tax credits, welfare, food stamps, EITC, etc. all mean increased income for each child. This is money in the bank for people who don’t pay ANY taxes and then burden society with children who were never wanted for anything but the extra income.
People who are responsible enough to have children for their own sakes and are taxpayers do not benefit from the child tax credit — they’d be better off with a lower tax rate and no child tax credit. The child tax credit doesn’t benefit them, it is only another mechanism to redistribute wealth to the poor that wouldn’t have children if they weren’t the key to the government benefits gravy train.
Yes, a lower tax rate for working parents of minor children sounds like a possible fix to the tax credit scam.
“even 1 percent would be fair...”
You and Michelle Bachman. I don’t understand this attitude. Paying a token amount of tax means builds no sense of the cost of government. It would just make people be defensive that they’ve paid their “fair share” and justify voting for more government.
Ten cents out of every dollar is enough to notice but not enough to damage someone’s lifestyle. Yet, if ten cents of every dollar of personal income was collected in federal income tax, not only would the feds collect more revenue than they do now, but they would collect enough to eliminate the corporate income tax entirely. Can you imagine the job explosion if corporations no longer had to deal with the highest corporate tax rate in the world and its labyrinth of tax rules ?
Instead of the complex corporate income tax, eliminate the employee half of FICA taxes and bump the employer rate from 7.65% to 10% applied to all labor compensation . That would collect more tax revenue than the current approach of half&half on only capped cash income.
