Last Monday, a high school student in North Carolina engaged his social studies teacher in a heated debate about politics and the two leading presidential candidates. During the exchange, the teacher (an obvious Obama supporter) got very angry with the student and accused him of disrespecting the president. She even went so far as to tell the boy that he could be jailed for speaking ill of Obama.

“She graduated from the same stellar historically black institution as Duke Hoaxtresss Crystal Mangum.. NC Central U.”
Surprise, surprise, surprise!
“...When I am talking in a public setting, I always properly call him President Obama. I have done the same for all presidents, even past ones. It is a common curtesy...”
I don’t, and won’t. Most times, I refer to him as “Obama” the same way the other side referred to “Bush”. I believe in showing the same respect and courtesy as they showed - the EXACT same - and playing the game by the same rules the other side plays. Sometimes, I refer to him in much, much less complimentary ways.
This guy shows us what he thinks of our office, our house, our institutions, and our way of life - he spits on them. To earn respect and honor, it’s first required that you BE respectable and honorable, and to my mind, he’s neither. I know people who are both, and he doesn’t come close.
I understand respecting the office, but it’s very, very difficult for me to do so right now.
I respect your differing viewpoint, though, and your right to it.
Put her name in Google Images for the family pic and regular Google will show her 1988 engagement announcement with the NCCU info.
Not a trace of bias -- (or imbecility) there... </SARCASM>
The hypocrisy of this teacher is staggering:
1. “She will not allow anyone to disrespect the President of the United States in her classroom.”
2. Then moments later “Bush was a shitty president.”
Dumber than a box of rocks.
Was looking at this situation as your thought processes indicated, Erasmus. Thinking of a canister going off, as in a bag of bank robbery money. The bag is tainted or stained. The money is tainted. Person holding bag is tainted. Those surrounding the bag are tainted. Cleaning up is required for the perpetrator. Those who surrounded the perpetrator were also tainted or stained and had no part in the spew or the robbery and tainting of minds. The culprit or perpetrator is suspended with pay. Only in America.
Many of our population are praying this does not happen, wbill. Agree, that it could. Keyword ... could. Prayer has been going up that summer will be a time of calm too. Prayer works wonders sometimes. Other times the answer is not what was prayed for. God's will has a way of being done (as all who believe know), and that will by God is good. Man has freewill. God has a will of His own. (imho)
However, I *did* move out of the city (out of a "mixed" neighborhood, to boot). I sweated a little bit during the 2008 elections; I didn't want to worry in 2012. That wasn't the ONLY reason for me leaving, but it certainly played a part.
I'm hoping for the best in November, but I'm thinking that the inner cities, especially, will be a bad place to be. There's lots of tinder around, and it only takes one fool to light a match.
Thanks wbill. Could not agree with you more either.
