Hawaii Lawmakers Pass Bill to Create 'Islam Day'

HONOLULU -- Hawaii's state Senate overwhelmingly approved a bill Wednesday to celebrate "Islam Day" -- over the objections of a few lawmakers who said they didn't want to honor a religion connected to Sept. 11, 2001.

The Senate's two Republicans argued that a minority of Islamic extremists have killed many innocents in terrorist attacks.

"I recall radical Islamists around the world cheering the horrors of 9/11. That is the day all civilized people of all religions should remember," said Republican Sen. Fred Hemmings to the applause of more than 100 people gathered in the Senate to oppose a separate issue -- same-sex civil unions.

One enormous reason why I favor granting HI independence. Make an arrangement for perpetual lease of the military bases and cut them loose. A Marxist state with a Marxist moonbat delegation, Marxist moonbat legislature, and a Stalinist hippie Governor has nothing to contribute to the rest of the country at large except to enhance our collective misery with leaders antithetical to responsibility, freedom and morality. Cut them loose and it may go a long way to helping them learn personal responsibility again.

I think Islam day is a fantastic idea. On that day, without fear of being labeled bigots or islamophobes, everyone should feel free to post any number of articles, pictures, histories etc. of just what Islam stands for.....How about the picture of the woman kneeling with a refle pointed at her head just prior to execution. How about pictures, unretouched, of the people jumping to their deaths from the towers. Maybe an article or two about the girls schools in Afghanistan burned by the taliban where the kids werenlt allowed out because they weren't properly covered.

I think much could be done with such a day and I'll probable send a letter to Hawaii with my brilliant suggestion.....I may win a free vacation!!!
