President Obamas reelection campaign launched a national drive Friday to counter new restrictive voter-access laws, which advisers said threaten his electoral chances in November.
Organizers will fan out in key swing states this weekend to teach volunteers and voters how to navigate a series of laws passed by Republican-controlled state legislatures imposing stricter identification requirements, limiting early voting and making it harder to organize voter-registration drives. It is the beginning of a months-long effort, campaign officials said, to combat what they described as a Republican effort to stifle voting among young people and minorities, two groups that traditionally tend to vote Democratic.
Republicans say the new laws are needed to protect against voter fraud and help make elections fairer.
The Obama campaigns weekend of action is part of a field effort that in 2008 helped identify, register and turn out millions of new voters. Those new voters gave Obama wins in unlikely places, including North Carolina and Virginia, where young and minority voters helped make the difference. Turning out those voters again this year is key to the presidents reelection strategy, but it is also more challenging this year in part because of the new voting laws.

I posted this a couple of weeks ago:
...After you sign up for welfare, take your check and open a bank account. Then stop at the liquor store, then buy a pack of smokes, make a return at Walmart, pay with a check at the garage, buy a vendors license, buy a house, get a loan, pawn your stolen bling, buy a car, buy a gun, enroll your kid in school, stop at the ER and then stop at the county office to make a restitution payment and a child support payment so you don t go to jail. Then if you arent too tuckered out stop and vote...and show the same $&@?;/ photo ID that you had to show when you performed all of the previous transactions and didnt say a damn word...
how does one by booze and cigarettes without a valid ID?
ALL males 18 or older are required to register for the draft. In order to do so they MUST have proof of citizenship and an I.D.
So THAT argument won’t fly with at least half of them.
So, instead of "fanning out to help them navigate ways around the laws" why don't they fan out and get these people valid ID cards. It would be cheaper in the long run, not to mention states would get some cash from the fees and they always like that!
Are 25% of African-Americans that afraid of having a driver's license or ID card? Or are they just stupid?
Another law that is ignored unless you want a federal job.
For Example...I never registered. However, I did join the military, made it a career. Still don't have a draft card (although I am 57 and if I get recalled we are in deep kimchee)
The government is cooking those numbers. One cannot even see a doctor without presenting photo ID. What about the purchase of beer and cigarettes? Welfare checks etc. Not to mention playing the lottery in most states.
These folks just want a way to cheat and destroy this country, and it seems to me they are winning. We have nothing but cowards representing us on the republican side. With the exception of only a few, they pretend to do their jobs with their heads in the sand.
I unfortunately live in the communist enclave of New York State which refuses to require voter ID. You need one for a library card and just this week when voting for a school budget it was required.
I thanked everyone of the ladies at the polling place for requiring ID.
Their argument that the general good of tightening voter ID laws is outweighed by the (IMHO) minor problem of some minorities being placed at a disadvantage in obtaining a ID does not hold water. Don't you think that a single call to a local Democrat office would mobilize them to come to their assistance in getting them down to the county seat to get their documentation? If people are not willing to do the simple requirements of citizenship, then they, in effect, shutting themselves out of the process.
What a pack of lies and misdirection in that story! Their arguments are tissue thin and should be laughed into oblivion.
Every time we try to move back toward the Constitution and the Republic, these weasels toss up a bunch of idiocy and obfuscating hysteria.
We must make sure that those tactics no longer work for them.
I hope that they keep it up because the more they try to put this jive past us, the more we see through them and move to do something about their nonsense.
TEA Party ON!
This only proves beyond a doubt that the only way a lib can win is by stealing an election.
They don’t even try to hide that fact. I think they are proud of it.
Assuming Zero’s enforcing the draft laws, yes.
Yeah!
This is all just a welfare Cadillac trunkload of happy horseshoot to fertilize their backyard herb gardens -
The DNC lefties and the NAACRAP claim baracks have 18% of govmint jobs -
Yet baracks are only 12% of the total US population
We are supposed to believe that many of those barack govmint workers do not have any ID?
Do they use digital online documents from Connecticut on their Playstations like Da One does?
.
.
It will also curtail the most important block of voters, the zombo-Americans, who get up out of their graves just to vote Democratic and eat brains, which amounts to the same thing.
ID laws are constitutional, says the Supreme Court.
The National Review, and I believe the Heritage Foundation, have long ago debunked this Brennan Center propoganda.

Fixed.
You cannot operate in 2012 America without some sort of ID, real or counterfeit. You cannot buy alcohol or tobacco, travel by plane or Amtrak, cash a check, get government assistance, or any of a number of things.
There may be some significant number of underclass males without photo ID, but that's only because they have an overriding desire to make it harder for the police to know who they are.
I hate living in a Marxist banana republic. Flippin’ commies!
If asking for an ID at the polls is a violation of a person's rights, isn't asking for an ID when exercising my 2nd or 21st Amendment rights also a violation?
