Trayvon Martin, the 17-year-old who was shot and killed by a neighborhood watch volunteer, had the drug THC in his system the night of this death, according to new information obtained by ABC News.
The revelation came as prosecutors in the case prepared to release to the public hundreds of pages of new evidence along with videos and crime scene photos.
Martin's death sparked public outrage after police released Martin's shooter, George Zimmerman, without any criminal charges for the killing.
Zimmerman, 28, is a multi-racial Hispanic man who shot the black high school junior at close range on Feb. 26, and claimed self-defense, though Martin was unarmed. Zimmerman was later charged with second-degree murder, and the killing provoked widespread debate about racial profiling.

Usually THC makes you want to chill. Good thing it wasn't PCP.
Wow...I didn’t know Skittles contained drugs.
Hence the urgent need for the Skittles.
Looks broke to me...
Again dear, THC affects people differently and makes one extremely paranoid and panicky. CLEARLY Trayvon was not “Chill” when you see the battered Zimmerman,
Martin was a dope dealer I’m sure because of the school finding an baggy laced with pot in his locker and also his twitter where people were asking for weed.
All of you are wrong. Marijuana can make people paranoid. I talked to a paramedic about this once. And people who are paranoid can act violently. Not everyone will experience a drug the same way; moreover, the pot kids smoke today is NOT the pot that many people in the 50’s smoked. Way more potent.
Yeah...I have a feeling we ain’t alone, either.
That should have said the “60’s” and not 50s.
Reference was to the drug THC. Tetrahydrocannabinol is the active substance in marijuana that leads to a high when smoked or ingested, but there are concentrated forms, both licit and illicit. The illicit form is known as, get this, “T” or tea.
This is a nonstory, to me.
DOWN THE MEMORY HOLE.
New headline: “Cops, Witnesses Back Up George Zimmerman’s Version of Trayvon Martin Shooting”
No mention of THC in Martin’s system.
George Orwell was a prophet.
Just wow.
“This may be a harder blow for the libertarians on here than the liberals. A marijuana user actually turns out to be a violent nut?”
If you make something a crime it would follow that criminals would be more likely to use it. Violent offenders are probably more likely to speed and rip tags off matresses, too. On the other side, if suddenly drinking coca cola were made illegal I bet an awful lot of gangbangers would be downin cokes.
“My boys and several friends were going into rages for no reason. Fighting amongst themselves and with their parents...or just trashing inanimate objects”
That’s not exactly scientific, there. You could probably get the same result from pixie sticks.
The post my post references had a link to it. I just snagged it.
“People who smoke a lot of pot dont get sleepy like that; theyre used to it. My cousins hubby smokes it all the time. He holds down a good job and everything, it makes him energetic.”
It’s sorta the same thing with booze, which they call a “depressant.” But it turns out that among what it depresses is shyness and reserve, so that people use it more than anything else to make a good impression meeting new people.
“Ive seen a professional diver drown in knee deep water while trying to wash off the blood from the murder he just committed”
How the heck did you witness such a thing?
Wife came in a few minutes ago and turned on the national news. You could hear the “pain” in Brian Williams’ voice having to report this.
BTW, there was a black caller into KLBJ in Austin last week who said Skittles is a street code for crack. Makes you wonder....
I just quickly went through that document. It looks like the witnesses did not see much; heard arguing - a strong loud voice - and then someone was yelling ‘help!’. One says Trayvon was on top of on top of George. Some of the statements were diffcult to read. I don’t see anything in these initial witness statments that justify second degree murder charges.
It looks like the meme that Zimmerman should have “stayed in his car” came from a cop who recommended he be charged with manslaughter. He or she claimed the confrontation would not have happened if Z had stayed in the car and waited for officers. Also suggested Z could have talked to Trayvon and told him he was a concerned neighbor and asked him what he was doing.
I did not see anything we do not already know.
“I am SO confused. /s”
Me, too!/s
