J.C. Penney Co., which is making major pricing and merchandising changes, said Tuesday that it swung to a first-quarter loss that was larger than expected and that it no longer expects to meet its previous profit forecast for the year.
-snip-
The net loss was $163 million, or 75 cents a share, compared with a profit of $64 million or 28 cents a share a year earlier. Sales in the quarter ended April 28 fell 20% to $3.15 billion.

Pirouette’s to losses could work too. Possibly carpet munches to losses could work.
I really like Ellen, she is very funny likeable person, she doesnt use her show to soapbox her political views
ALL of my clothes growing up were from either Sears or Penny’s. My Mama ordered everything via catalog.
Come to think of it, I've noticed the same. My wife used to be giddy at getting those coupons in the mail all the time, and used to end up in one of their stores every week. I hadn't noticed her not getting any more coupons, but come to think of it, I don't think we've seen one in a few weeks and she hasn't shopped there recently.
Which is exactly why they are being destroyed.
I learned that JFK had been shot while shopping at Penny’s
I don’t understand a cologne company having Mathew McConaughey as their spokesperson. He said on TV that he doesn’t use any.
I know more people, including my wife, who wrote off JCP because of the Degenerate one, than their pricing.
She is the epitome of political activist in her off hours.
They said people are shopping for “social values”.
I wonder what the mark up is on those?
Doesn’t sound profitable to start making political statements when you are on the edge of bankruptcies.
JC Penny needs to stick to it’s knitting. They have always been a “family” type store.
Have a queer like Ellen Degenerate as their “spokesperson” is not very bright.
Well, he might have been on his way to Penny's, but he wasn't shot there.
Ellen DeGeneres Rips One Million Moms’ Anti-Gay Boycott, Thanks JC Penney Partnership Supporters
On an episode of her show today, DeGeneres speaks at length about the online boycott launched by OneMillionMoms.com, a division of the American Family Association, who have pressed the retail chain to replace the talk show host because she is a lesbian.
“They wanted to get me fired, and I’m proud and happy to say that JCPenney stuck by their decision to make me their spokesperson,” she says. “Which is great news for me because I also need some new crew socks.”
Reading through several comments written in her defense on the group’s Facebook page, she goes on to note, “I usually don’t talk about stuff like this on my show, but I really want to thank everyone who is supporting me. Here are the values I stand for: I stand for honesty, equality, kindness, compassion, treating people the way you’d want to be treated and helping those in need. To me, those are traditional values. That’s what I stand for.”

She is a queer.
That is all you need to know.
Jcp remains a really good store, one of our favorites. But now that we learn this, (alas, what a shame) we will try to take our business elsewhere. Thanks for the info
>>I really like Ellen, she is very funny likeable person, she doesnt use her show to soapbox her political views<<
She literally killed her sitcom by coming out.
She is a symbol.
I can’t watch her.
>>I dont understand a cologne company having Mathew McConaughey <<
I don’t understand the popularity of Mathew McConaughey. He is the only actor more boring than Keanu Reeves.
Just do some simple math. If the population is at MOST 1-3% homosexual, if EVERY single one started shopping at Penneys, it wouldn't come close to the losses they're going to suffer. And I'm not sure gays EVER shopped there in the first place.
Really foolish on so many levels.

No she’s not and yes she does.........
