My basic thought is secrecy and my glock. Maybe it’s not much.
Maybe I should keep my gas tank full and a stash of cash.
I should have a bike repair dit handy too, I guess.
I reviewed the Texas code an it not only involves pumping water but waste treatment facilities are also required to have automatic start power generation power eqipment. There is no specification for the fuel but I have heard diesel is pretty much the rule.
They and hospitals can run forever with the stocks from refineries that we have available. Forever.
Others may be better qualified to advise on equipment.
I can make fire. I will cook. That's all the equipment I worry about. ;)

I’ve got plenty of dried beans.
What I worry about is the water source.
I guess you could put the beans in your mouth until they are soft, chew and swallow.
I’m not being argumentative. This is one of my major concerns about dried beans and rice. Water.
You must have water to drink and/or cook with. With a limited source, wouldn’t you prefer to drink?
I’d love an answer to this, as I am in drought stricken West Texas
* Isolation
* Tamiflu
* N95 Masks
* 90% alcohol (anything less will not kill a virus)
* Bleach
* An isolation room.
* Purchase/stock foods with antiviral properties. (do a google search)
Do keep in mind that viruses are very, very small...they are about 0.5 microns in size. A human (Caucasian) hair is about 100 microns in size.
Do I have these things = YES!
If you are not mobile and have a source of food, part of secrecy is standing in those food lines with everyone else...
If the bottom falls out, Americans will reorganize themselves pretty quickly to make sure things don’t fall into complete anarchy. The loner preppers out there will be disappointed to find that everything doesn’t just go to hell. No one will come to the them begging for supplies, nor will they be attacked. Mostly they will just be irrelevent, as already existing communities and associations step up and mobilize to make sure needs are met. It will be rough, but it won’t be a return to the jungle. The bottomless pessimism of the preppers will turn out to be false. Sooner or later they will come out of their hidey holes looking for things that only the local community can provide.
Water is an issue for some. I have a lake within walking distance, and my water table here ranges from 18 inches to 4 ft, so I can always get water.
There are many ways to purify it and some good resources out there to learn how to do it.
I'll be using a gravel/sand filter to get out the grotty bits, and then boiling it.

You forgot that all will be singing kum-ba-yah and holding hands.
In a humid area fans would keep you cool enough and in dry areas wet sheets hung in front of a window with a breeze or a fan.
It won’t be kumbuya, but it won’t be the hell you guys are hoping for either.
Dont forget the ladies. Tampons and other things that guys dont want to buy in the store.
And Porn.....a guy gotta have a stash of porn{ Just kidding}.
Clorox bleach....
Wax
Building supplies
Guns...and ammo...and when you think you have enough ammo, buy more.
Disasters can be very local and very personal. It just makes sense to prepare.

Bad consequences from eating dried beans? Guess I’ll have to go canned.
We are, truly, in a serious drought, the water we can store must be saved for drinking.
What about rice? Same consequence?
Hungry folks do a lot of things, you know.
If I may... POST OF THE CENTURY! Preppers are apocalyptics who believe there work will grant them an earthly salvation so they can spend their time looking down on the “lost souls” who will be wailing and gnashing their teeth in regret.
During Ike we lost power for three weeks, but we made it through without much problems.
The commercial areas (grocery stores)were up and running on the third day after Ike came through so there was little problem with food. The amount of food brought in was stunning. The grocery industry has disaster plans that are astonishing.
It worked out well but in Houston have had a lot of practice with this type of event.
The city subsidizes rain water collection barrels. Hooked up our roof down spout to them now have water to use for bathing or washing / general sanitation. We also have water filters Katadyn/MSR/First need etc.
That’s my thought as well. I live in a suburban neighborhood on the edge of a wildlife refuge. I would hunt and forage, but when most people can’t buy food, they will loot the supermarkets. Once the supermarkets are empty, armed bands will begin to go house to house and take your food. The weak and lazy will perish. Is the answer to migrate to a sparsely populated warm climate where an abundance of vegetation and wildlife is available, avoiding the armed food bandits?
I don't hope for a car wreck, but I buy insurance. I don't hope for a house fire, but I have fire extinguishers.
A prudent man prepares.
