Have you made defensive mobility a concern? Or, is your home prepared for defense?

Having the proper supplies to survive is only as good as your ability to defend them.

The main problem I would have here is heat during the Summer. I have plenty of water around me and I have enough food for several months tho I would get tired of spam, rice, and beans.

I have a couple of generators. They would run my window unit, but not my central ac for a few days after a hurricane etc. but not permanently.

I have no where near the guns I want but actually more than enough for any purpose. More .22 rimfire including magnum, than I will ever use, also more 12 gauge. I only have a few boxes of 20 gauge.

Adequate supplies of 9mm and 40 S&W but only a few boxes of .380.

I only have around 200 rounds of 8mm Mauser and that is almost all corrosive but it will still do the job. More than adequate supply of 6.5X55 and most of it is either Norma or Lapua match.

I need more 30-06 and more .243 but with the others I will get by. Also I have more pellets and pellet rifles than I could ever possibly use.

Every other thing I can think of is more than what I need and most of it just from things I have accumulated over the years.

I do wish I had more gasoline tho.

I am certain that there will be more non-preppers than preppers, those who will try and take by force that which they need - and who can blame them?

That's the main reason small towns are the best place to be. Common defense. At least here east of the Mississippi its not a matter of a big city against a small town. Its a matter of a big city against hundreds of small interconnected towns.

Frankly, only a fool would tell anyone that he's a prepper.
When the SHTF, those who know will tell EVERYONE who doesn't.

The best defense is secrecy.

Thirty days until pretty widespread cannibalism.

Possibly less.

I agree, but don’t have much in the way of a place to mobilize to.

Here’s my preliminary list.
Be glad to have your input. Be kind.

Some sort of antibiotic - like Ampicillin, Penicillin, Amoxicillin, Keflex, etc.

Get them here at reasonable prices, no prescription required:

Toilet Paper? Really?

Puhleeeze.
Money can be spent on MUCH more useful objects than TP.

Whatever DID we do before TP? I, personally, can remember using magazine pages in an outhouse and I can tell you that in the Philippines the use of waste water for washing your behind is still an option.

I agree. And all well and good - BUT.

Do you know your neighbors? Do they feel as you do? Are your neighbors complacent, do they believe the government will save them?

A group or small community in a survival situation, is much better than the individual, but these individuals need to be identified beforehand.

I'm not saying tell the Christian lady or avid hunter next door that you are a prepper, I'm saying, get to know people that could be of service.

don't ASSUME.

Good one. Thanks. I do like colloidal siver as well both systemically and topically. Too much IS too much, like anything.
Neosporin, I’d better get.

"I do wish I had more gasoline tho. "

I'm stock piling 20 pound propane tanks.

Unbelieveably, I bought two full tanks yesterday at a garage sell for $15.00 total for both. No kidding. The guy selling them does foreclosed HUD Housing 'clean-outs' and sells the stuff he cleans out...these two tanks were included. I have about 25 now. The gas does not go bad over time.

No problem.

If you have no place to mobilize to (or if you did, there is no guarantee you could get to it), plan accordingly.

Number one is defense of your assets.

What I have to say is based on the pinto bean, and my years of making them. It is also based on my culinary school experience and years of feeding USAF troops and cooking at fine dining restaurants.

Dried beans should be picked over for dirt, rocks, twigs, etc and rinsed several times.

Beans can be soaked overnight and then rinsed before cooking, or a quick method is to bring beans to a boil with water well covering them (they will absorb water), allow to sit for an hour or two, covered, then rinsed and cooked.

Whatever the depth of the beans in the pan, I put 2x that depth in water over them and bring them to a boil, and then reduce them to a simmer. Now is the time to add flavorings that you may have. That can include onions (wild or stored), garlic (wild or stored), fatty meats like pork or possum, hot peppers, salt and pepper.

Depending on the age of the beans and your altitude, it may take from 3 to 6 hours to cook the beans until they are tender.

Do NOT allow beans to scorch. That ruins them, and there is no way to make them edible.

I am always happy to answer food and cooking questions, and my history includes living in a shack in the woods on a mountain without power for over two years, so I've got experience in 'survival' cooking.
