Preparation H?
“Could not imagine starting from scratch again in this environment. The kids are being screwed more than the established imo.”
Was talking to someone with siblings/friends that graduate this weekend. I cannot imagine having to face these headwinds with a new sheepskin. Thank God these folks are often upbeat.
I hope I am wrong.
Sad to say, I don’t even have that! LOL
Point me to the articles please?
“How about a half-way melt down. What would your scenario look like?”
The botton line is, anything that stops trucks more than a week at most, means it all goes down - not halfway, it all goes - delivery of food, power goes, banks go, water will go, all of it.
Most people don’t realize how interconnected we are, one thing depending on another thing to work, depending on another thing to work and on and on. Take away one of those and the others can’t continue so I think there is no such thing as a half-way melt down that doesn’t bring it all down.
Will send you Freepmail very shortly. Enjoy.
You need to meet Kartographer. Did you get to meet N_W_Arizona_Granny? Our very own, before she passed? Ruthie was just plain cool.
“The starving hordes will find you.”
Not likely if you prepare correctly.
I have heard your commment over and over from people who don’t prepare. It’s kind of like our patriots saying, “We can’t separate from England because they will find us and win.” Thank goodness they made a plan and stuck with it instead of saying that.
It’s a matter of choice. Have nothing and die or do something about it while you can. It’s your choice. It is easier to do nothing just as our patriots could have taken the easy way and done nothing and stayed under England’s rule.
Problem solvers will prepare; others will sit and hope nothing happens. I am a problem solver, not a sitter.
I now "smack that".
“You need to meet Kartographer.”
I’m on his ping list and read everything he posts. Sometimes a dufus or two get on those threads to try to cause trouble. I really don’t get that - no one has to prepare but these people think they need to throw stones at those who do. They obviously don’t have much of a life if this is what they have to do to find “entertainment”.
If I had the power of “zots” they wouldn’t last long. Kartographer does a good job with his posts.
God bless and keep you, dearest Marcella.
I’m only about one quarter prepared for the worst, but at least I moved out of CA.
If you are forced to move, certainly think about coming to Texas. There is a VA hospital in Waco, TX, and Waco is not a huge city like Houston or Dallas. Waco is central Texas so has water - it’s not semi-arid or arid as the hill country and west Texas.
You would have a higher standard of living than in California as our prices on everything are much lower than California. And, we are not building a fast train to hell as California is.
You can own as many guns as you want and as much ammo as you want. We have an actual law that says you can kill anyone who breaks in your house - it doesn’t have to go to a grand jury - it is your lawful right to kill the sucker. You can also carry a concealed weapon.
If you have to move, might as well move to a place where the majority shares your values.
Stayed overnight in Waco a couple times while FReeping or tea partying. Nice area.
Well, I have been outside playing in the dirt on my tractor, so I am late to your post. After having almost rolled it twice, I decided that it was time to get off the tractor and come back in. I’ll try it again tomorrow. ;>)
This was an excellent post, a gloomy reality, but sage advice.
I have always been prepared to survive for a month or two. I learned to do that from my grandmother who had lived through the Depression. A few years ago we increased our efforts. While we would not be comfortable, we are now set up to survive for nearly 6 months without leaving my property.
I still have a few things on my to do list, but we continue to work at it. For example, we have our own water well, but it takes power to run the pump. I own 3 generators, but gas could be difficult to get. Consequently, I want to set up our well with the addition of a hand pump.
I think this will be the year that I finally get off my backside and buy the HAM radios that I have always believed would be good to have. I believe that the ability to communicate with the outside world could become extremely important.
If all eles fails, I’ll be headed to your compound. ;>) Well, you could come to our mountain if you need a hideout, Marcella.
I bought a ham radio receiver not long ago. Yes, get the radio. Do you have screen doors on all your doors? If not, I need to talk to you about that.
I do for the front door, but the back door needs replacing.
I also have a green metal roof.... I got tired of repairing 3 tab roofing. ;>)
