GREENVILLE, N.C. Passage of a constitutional amendment defining marriage as solely between a man and a woman makes North Carolina "look like Mississippi," Gov. Beverly Perdue said Friday.
Perdue was in Greenville as part of her tour to tout her proposed state budget for 2012-2013. The governor was responding to a question on the amendment from a reporter from WITN-TV in Washington (http://bit.ly/JptsXG ).
"I think it's wrong for North Carolina, clearly and simply," she said. "People around the country are watching us and they're really confused, to have been such a progressive, forward-thinking, economically driven state that invested in education and that stood up for the civil rights of people, including the civil rights marches back in the '50s and '60s and '70s.
"Folks are saying, 'What in the world is going on in North Carolina?' We look like Mississippi."

There is no confusion, you ditz, other than in your diseased “progressive” mind. Normal folks know what is right and wrong.......

I’m not confused, either.

What kind of mind-control laser beam are fags using on US politicians?
They make up ~2% of the population but have governors and the president acting crazy on a daily basis now?

(Thank you, Andrew Breitbart. In your untimely passing, you have exposed these people one last time.)

I'm glad Perdue doesn't’ think like Mississippi. I'd hate to think we'd elect a dumb ass like her now. Ray Mabus was a big mistake but we learned.

This is like the hand wringing the dems are going through in WV, after Jenks (the Texas inmate) got 41% in the primary on Tuesday against Dear Leader Obama. The angst they are experiencing is funny to listen to. My county is one of the counties where the majority of dems voted for Jenks. The elitist types in flyover country need to move to the coasts, so they will not be embarrassed by the unwashed masses.

Why do people vote for these dull plodding fag-hag hacks? The modern Democrat party is a cultural and religious wasteland suitable for those who have sold their souls...... for power

Why is everything seen as a right? Is marriage a right? Heck, if we go by the same standards that are applied in the homosexual community on this issue, if marriage is a right, then I have the right to go out and clunk the next good looking 18 year old young lady in the head, shove her in my Blazer and take her to the Justice of the Peace to marry this poor, lonely middle-aged guy that I am. Then my poor, elderly mother can see some grandkids. They keep saying equality, well, Sadie Hawkins style, if the 18 year old young lady wanted me, I'll go peacefully. B-)
I just hate this comparison to civil rights that was started in the 1950's and 1960's. Why is everything a civil right deal? Why is everything a right? Should we all have rights to free utilities, a free car, free food, free computer, free playstation, free color TV, free house, free sex, free clothes, you name it.
There are times that I even question Martin Luther King's tactics on civil rights, instead of the content of one's character, the tack that he should have taken was "that a person is an individual, they should be left alone, as long a they don't hurt anyone else, to achieve their goals and get through life by the abilities they have, the skills that have and learn and move upward by their merits."
In a legal sense under our system, Obama is correct that it is up to each state to determine their laws on marriage (although if I had to vote for Pennsylvania, I'd vote "no"), if any, but I know it is a bone to detract from the real issues like the economy, Iran and so on.

Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant said Friday it was “petty” for North Carolina Gov. Beverly Perdue to insult Mississippi while bemoaning that voters in her state approved a ballot measure banning same-sex marriage.
