Barack Obama's oratory skills may have helped him win the White House in 2008, but his speaking prowess could be a liability in this year's presidential election, says Sam Leith, author of Words Like Loaded Pistols: Rhetoric From Aristotle to Obama. Rhetoric is central to democracy, says Leith. "You win elections by talking to people, by trying to persuade them, not only on what you're going to do, but that you're trustworthy." And, he says, Obama talked his way into the Oval Office with "amazing speeches" that invoked Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr., and he even beat out the presumptive Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton. "He just spoke better than everybody else," says the former literary editor of the Daily Telegraph.[See a collection of political cartoons on Mitt Romney.]

H was never a great speaker..he was a great READER!

Great speaker my arse. That is all.
What “speaking prowess”?
Never had it, never will.
You’ve pointed out a key flaw in the liberal marketing scheme: it’s all about style, not substance.
The Left is very good at packaging manure. The problem is, sooner or later someone opens the package.
I disagree.
If anything, he was an IGNORANT reader.
“Corpse men” two or three times in the same speech from the Commander-in-Chief is epic FAIL.
IMO, he was neither a great speaker not a great reader.
He stuttered and stammered and sprinkled his speeches with uh’s and er’s and nearly drove me crazy. I never could believe the hype about how great a speaker he is.

Sorry about the double post—it seems that quite often, my posts are doubles, but I only hit post once....don’t know what that’s about!
His days are numbered. . . . . . . .
My opinion exactly. I don’t know where the myth of Bambi as a “great speaker” came from, especially since all you had to do was listen to him for about 30 seconds to realize how awful he was.
The man is a fair teleprompter reader ... not great. He shifts eye contact from one teleprompter to another, giving him a rather reptilian look on TV, swiveling back and forth, he rarely looks the camera "in the eye." I just don't get it, I guess .... because when he speaks, I itch.
Without prepared material to read, he is an unmitigated disaster.
Try using Google Chrome if you aren't already. . . . .

Lost his speaking mojo? Call a corpseman! Um...er...uhh...umm...”let me make this perfectly clear...it’s Bush’s fault!” Either that, or TOTUS is broken.
His handlers tell us he was a great speaker, and half of America is trained to believe it, as long as they don’t hear it first on Fauxnews.
He used “corpseman” three times in that speech. He also used it once in a speech a few months previous. Either he was corrected and didn’t remember or his minions are afraid to correct him. I suspect the latter.
Also, Glenn Beck pointed out that when 0 stutters, he is about to tell a lie. That is true, since everything he says is a lie. I think when he stutters, it is a lie that he doesn't want to say for fear of offending his base or his own sensibilities.
