Human choices drive climate changes

FARMINGTON -- Maine is going to look a lot different in 100 years if climate change trends continue on the same upward trajectory.

Moose may all but disappear from the forests, replaced by migrations of white-tail deer.

The forests themselves will probably be taken over by trees found today as far south as Maryland, rather than the red spruce that make Maine's woods unique.

Even black-capped chickadees, the state bird, may start to head farther north for cooler climes.

These are just a few of the potential changes in store for Maine according to many scientists, who have been predicting what will happen in various parts of the world over the next century if global warming doesn't slow down.

The drastic differences in global warming's effects will ultimately hinge on human's choices to reduce their impact on the otherwise natural climate change cycles, Barton told the audience.

"We still have choices to make," he said.

They think that the only reason people don’t believe in AGW is they haven’t told the lie enough yet.

In a hundred years...because of global warming...Mainers will start speaking with a southern accent. They also will walk around with their underwear on backwards. And I believe that most Mainer women will be wearing tube-tops all year-round.

Maine (and everywhere else) looked quite differently 100 yrs ago, too...... Climate comes and goes. I don't believe man can do much, if anything to change that.

Many things have changed since I was a kid. In the city we had big old chestnut and Elm trees with oriole nests all over the place. The big trees grew and grew and the roots were whacking the sidewalks and getting into the sewers. The Elm trees became diseased.

The orioles, the red winged blackbird and the cardinals don't hang there anymore...but the damn pigeons are still around along with the tree rats aka squirrels.

To all those that believe man is adversely affecting the planet, you know it is already to late to change things. However, I have a modest proposal for you to improve the situation: If you do these things, you will improve the environment and stop harassing the rest of us, making the world better for all.

Chances are equally good that in 100 years
Maine will be covered in an Ice sheet 50 feet
thick, all the great skiing will be in Georgia
and people will be going to northern Florida
to watch the leaves turn.

There is no upward trajectory. I stopped there.

And all the little squirrels and birds will be gone forever. Lisp, Lisp. And the little flowers will all dry up and blooww away. And the big big trees will all fall down and go boom. The only thing thats going to happen in the next 100 years is this SOCIALIST MORON is going to be buried 6 ft under and nobody will have to listen to his SOCIALIST DEMOCRAT HALLUCINATIONS about the AGW/IPCC CO2 scam anymore.

Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane: articles like this were all the rage about 25 years ago. “The Morning Sentinel” is asleep at the wheel.

What upward trajectory is that? Seems I read the temp has been pretty stable for the last 100 years.

We have to start killing every Human Being on the planet to save Maines tree’s.

In a hundred years Maine will still have Republican Senators voting with Democrats.

"We still have choices to make," he said."

How about choosing not to buy into the hype and hysteria while Al Gore gets rich off his scam and laughs at all of you on his way to the bank?

we have about as much affect on the climate as the Inca's with all their sacrificing.

That is to say... none.

"They think that the only reason people don’t believe in AGW is they haven’t told the lie enough yet."

Ask your average high schooler who has been taught this garbage for 8 or 10 years what they think of global warming and they'll tell you it is the absolute truth.
