Skip to comments.Frank discussion re our loss to Obama/Romney and the future direction of FR and tea party movement
Posted on 05/04/2012 6:31:27 AM PDT by Jim Robinson
My FRiends, we might as well face the reality that we the combined pro-life conservative movement and tea party coalition have lost this round (the presidential election) in the larger battle to reclaim our constitution and our inalienable rights. Rove, Romney and the GOP-e have successfully destroyed and driven off each and every pro-life conservative tea party candidate from the race and all have surrendered to the Romney camp. It is no secret that Romney is not one of us. There is absolutely no doubt that he has never accomplished a single conservative thing in his entire political career (one term as liberal governor of liberal Massachusetts and six years campaigning for president). In Massachusetts, he undeniably championed abortion, gay rights, global warming, gun control, big government statist mandated/socialized health care programs, liberal judges, TARP, bailouts, stimulus spending, debt limit increases, etc, and even though he's recently claimed a complete reversal in political beliefs and no longer despises pro-life conservatives or the time of Reagan-Bush, I still don't trust him. He still stubbornly holds on to some of his statist beliefs, like global warming, gays in the military, RomneyCare, stimulus spending, etc, so there is no way I can vote for him or join Cain, Perry, Bachmann, Newt or any others who are endorsing him. But I will not act on my prior promises that I would actively campaign against him if he wins the nomination. Our combined movement is already torn and splintered and is going to have to be mended if we're going to have any impact whatsoever against the liberal/progressives and statists after the election. To that end I propose a TRUCE among our conservative forces during the remainder of this election cycle.
We conservatives have already lost the presidency to either the Dems or the GOP-e, and if we tear the tea party apart, if we tear the pro-life movement apart, if we tear FR apart then we lose it all. It's far more important that we re-unite and live to fight another day. Even if we can't vote for a true conservative for the presidency, it's doubly important that we all turn out on election day or sooner and drag our friends, neighbors, relatives, co-workers, etc, to the polls to vote straight conservative for every slot on our ballots. The only way we can win our freedom back is to vote out the liberal progressives and vote in as many liberty loving conservatives as is humanly possible into every elected office at every level of government all across this great land. To prevent a total loss to the dems or GOP-e, we must continue the tea party rebellion into November and beyond. Whatever else you may do, you must turn out and vote straight tea party conservative down ticket!!
We must continue expanding our inroads into the state houses and into every elective office in the land. We must continue building on our majority in the house and we must retake the senate!! We must help the conservative governors and state legislatures to fully restore the ninth and tenth amendments and reclaim the real political power away from the federal usurpers and return it to the states and the people per the constitution!! This way, regardless of who wins the presidency, we can cut his unconstitutional expansionist movements off at the knees. And if any executive, civil officer or judge dares commit impeachable offenses, we must hold the majorities so we can impeach and remove them from office!!
And we must salvage and rebuild and continue strengthening our conservative pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-borders, pro-constitution, pro-small government, pro-defense, pro-liberty movements and our tea party coalition. And we must stop ripping each other apart!!
Therefore I hereby propose a general truce among our conservative forces!!
The Republic we save may be our own!!
As far as FR's finances go, we're in the same boat as the rest of the economy and will have to make do with what we can raise. Fortunately, the big debts we ran up a couple years ago have been paid off. We borrowed approx $20,000 a few years ago from two FReepers to fund our national convention, plus we ran up another $20,000 in legal fees during the last couple of years fighting off Righthaven. But those are now behind us and paid off. We also did quite a bit of traveling each year for the last three years on cross country tea party tours, but I think we can now cut that back and remove it from our budget requirements. If we're fortunate enough to not incur any additional legal costs or equipment costs (other than what we've already planned), and cut the travel and a few other areas, we should be able to tighten our belts enough to weather the storm even if we fail to reach our short term fundraising goals.
Whatever the outcome of the elections, we are prepared to roar into 2013 with the tea party chewing up liberal/progressives and RINOs and raising hell in our never ending fight for liberty!!
We are the resistance!!
Let's take the enemy head-on instead of fighting each other!!
Damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead!!
In some states you have to be careful about ‘write in’ voting.
I was told by a poll worker ( the one handing out ballots ) that if you ‘wrote-in’ anyone that didn't register in advance as a ‘write-in candidate, it was a spoiled ballot and wouldn't be counted.
That protest ‘Donald Duck’ vote would cause your entire ballot to never be counted. That could void all your down ticket votes.
If in doubt of your state law/rules on write-in voting, leave that slot blank.
An under vote won't spoil a ballot.
The Rombots are now dead to me.... clarification , (not literally)..meaning, I will not acknowledge them....will not support them..will not even look at them..period. My back is all they will ever see..or ever deserve.
I agree with every word you say. I am so tired and disgusted with the GOP elites and their faux conservatism.
BUT I will vote for ANYone to get Obama OUT. To sit home and not vote in revolt would give the election to the liberal progressive traitors.
It kills me to hear so many conservatives who will refuse to vote since its Romney. Well for goodness sakes....vote AGAINST Obama by at least casting a vote for Romney.
We MUST do this or we will be so far into a socialist form of government from another 4 years of what we have now, it will be impossible to bring the nation back.
Bottom line is that Obama is killing us. He will have unfettered power once he gets another 4 yrs without the worry of re election. I'm relieved that you have had to look more closely at the realistic bottom line.
Romney 2012. (it makes me queasy but this is all we got)
I love this site and will help out with the financial bottom line as much as possible through a donation. You have given us a forum for true conservatives, I appreciate that more than you know.
Well, you are still here and it’s been a few minutes.
I’m now thinking that the old FR is back, big time!
More like the pro-Romeney people stop accusing those of us who refuse to vote for Romney of being Democrat plats, liberals, and stupid.
You ask a lot of questions. Highly sensitive questions. Stupid ones too.
“Did you get so disgusted with the GOP you are a democrat now?Am I posting on a democratic forum? WHAT IS GOING ON?Please kindly explain. Thank-You!”
Why are you asking these questions? Why don’t you know what’s going on?
Ahh. I see. You answered my questions with the first words you FReeped...
“I just signed in for the first time in awhile...”
Look noobie. Try to keep up with things and avoid making zot-worthy remarks. Read more - learn more....
The Tea Party will never succeed unless it starts by winning at the local or state level. Doctrinaire conservatives are a minority in this country.
Call it a truce, call it “not talking to them” call it whatever you want.
I will call it by it’s true name: Surrender.
Surrender to the RINO establishment.
Surrender to Rockefeller Republicans.
Surrender to GOP Liberals.
They knew and were counting that we fear Obama more than we desire real conservatives. Therefore they gave us the middle finger and gave us the candidate that THEY wanted. And it’s playing out according to plan.
Not me suckers. I’m out. I will not vote for Romney and I will not vote for any GOP candidate that endorses and/or campaigns alongside him. He is a liberal and an enemy.
The bottom line is that money still controls most of politics and Romney had the money. The only way around this that I see going forward is for conservatives to come together early on ONE conservative candidate to pool our presidential resources behind.
I’m talking well beyond the boundaries of FR and the Tea Party to one candidate with broad enough support and access to resources that he/she could have both the political clout and the financial clout to win the nomination and represent most of out values (not necessarily all as politics is not about purity but about what you can accomplish).
As I see it, the problem this time was two-fold: a great many conservatives were waiting for Sarah Palin and she wound up leaving us at the altar. By the time she formally stepped out, there were too many quasi-conservatives each getting a small chunk of the vote and fighting each other.
In 2015, we must DEMAND that Palin be in or out far far sooner and have a second choice already clearly in place. Had we gone into June fully and uniformly behind another conservative, be it Cain, Perry, Newt or whomever, that candidate would have stood a far greater chance of winning the nomination and then most would have far less griping to do now.
Ideally, that candidate should be nationally known and tested with a proven track record to run on. Outsiders and gadflies can be popular but they can also have skeletons in the closet that can torpedo the campaign as soon as they come to light.
But, for now, do all you can in down-ballot races and, if you’re in a swing state, see to it that Obama does not win. If you don’t live in a swing state and can’t stomach Romney, leave it blank or write in or go third party or whatever floats your boat but if your state is going to be close, do nothing that is going to help Obama get re-elected.
Who says he will have it? If we had a conservative Senate leader and a decent majority, we could SHUT DOWN any Obama SCOTUS picks for the next 4 years.
I want the failures and the civil war to be on OBAMA's watch, not a GOPer, not even Romney.
Does this mean that all those who were banned or those marked as a troll and lost their posting privileges for supporting Romney will be reinstated?
I agree... I think there are going to be many threads I will be skipping over :p
Right. 2016 election will be either:
a) r0mney vs whatver turd the demonicRats serve up
b) Another Republican free-for-all vs whatever turd the demonicRats serve up to succeed 0bama's second term.
I'd like anyone who thinks that a hypothetical President r0mney would see meaningful conservative opposition in 2016 to explain how they think that will happen.
I'd also like to see serious, meaningful discussion as to how the 2016 "Republican free-for-all" I hypothesize above might produce a nominee we can actually vote for.
Anything else is just mental masturbation.
Innuendos like that are what I think Jim wants to stop.
Just because I refuse to vote for Romney, does not make me ‘pro Obama’ or blind to Obama’s policies.
Romney was not my first, second, third, or fourth choice in this campaign, but I still believe he is far preferable to Obama. If only because he will have to at least consider the interests of the GOP base if he wishes to maintain any support after the election. Obama won't. In any case, I wasn't going to contribute to a freepathon if I thought election discussion was going to be censored/banned.
Given that we're all at least on the same side of not liking Obama, I'm tossing something in to keep the site going.
The objective is to get rid of Obama, hold or expand contorl of the House and to take the Senate.
Everything else is meaningless.
I don’t want failures and civil war.
I want American greatness.
I suppose we’ll just have to cancel each other’s vote then.
Basically we need to have a conservative primary before the Republican primary...
