Many naive Americans believe that Mormonism is merely another branch of protestant Christianity. Well thats not what the founders and leaders of Mormonism believed.
According to its founder, Joseph Smith, and Brigham Young, Smiths successor, Mormons are the only true people of God on the earth. All non-Mormons and their religions are wrong, an abomination, blind, damned, of the devil, whores, not Christians, groveling in darkness, heathens, ignorant, devoid of fact, pagan and hatched in Hell.
When Romney made a speech about his religion in 2008 he refused to distance himself from his faith and fully affirmed his Mormonism. Responding to critics, Romney said,
"They would prefer it if I would simply distance myself from my religion, say that it is more a tradition than my personal conviction, or disavow one or another of its precepts. That I will not do. I believe in my Mormon faith and I endeavor to live by it. My faith is the faith of my fathers - I will be true to them and to my beliefs."
Romney, the father of homosexual marriage in America and abortion funding Romney Care in Massachusetts, flip-flops on virtually every issue, but he is adamant about his anti-Christian Mormonism. Romney needs the vote of Christians to win election, but he refuses to disavow one or another of its precepts.
Nor can anyone think Romney is merely a casual or cultural Mormon who just happened to be born Mormon. He is an active Bishop in the Mormon church hierarchy. He cannot pretend to be ignorant of the teaching of Joseph Smith and the other prophets of Mormonism.
Below is a list of quotes from Mormon leaders and official publications starting with Joseph Smith down to our day. The message is consistent and clear.

Ah... but my heart AIN'T troubled!
If I were an SLC type of MORMON; then, by GOD! my heart surely WOULD be; after learning of what the Great Prophet, Brigham Young has stated:
"Now if any of you will deny the plurality of wives, and continue to do so, I promise that you will be damned;
and I will go still further and say, take this revelation, or any other revelation that the Lord has given,
and deny it in your feelings, and I promise that you will be damned.
Brigham Young - JoD 3:266 (July 14, 1855)
Just wave the Imperial Hand and go on.
SURELY you know that ANYONE who dares to put THEIR vaunted opinion in plain sight for all to see; can expect to get some feedback; right?
If you are tired of playing; watch some youtube stuff or something...
Tired of being badgered??
Them undies ain’t helping much!
Convert to MORMONism
Follow the rules.
Wear the garment at ALL times.
It will wick the body sweat away and you’ll be MUCH cooler!
didja see who was 1/3 the way there???
It is like most tradional Christian denominations, but why is that question important? It is no different than asking what Jehovah’s Witnesses’ views of, say, Methodists are. My point is that almost any serious sect, denomination, or whatever your term at some level thinks all the rest are heretics. If you don’t think that, then you probably belong to Rick Warren’s church where nobody is “wrong.” so why wouldn’t ‘Mormonism’ have the same view of others that others have of them?
#1...I didn't put Obama in the WH; and I wish he was gone as well.
Beyond that obvious caveat, there's QUITE a difference 'tween having an Lds relative (like I do) or neighbor vs. putting somebody who thinks he's "divine" as THE leader of the Free world. (The latter needs a wee bit more discernment)
Besides, if YOU, Dennis, was auditioning for godhood like the average temple Mormon, you'd be on your best behavior, too!
Some day Markus -- or his kids or grandkids -- will want the Dem out "at ALL costs." And I mean ALL,/u> costs!
Come that day, Markus or his ensuing generations will vote for somebody well to the left of Obama...Why? (Because the Dem candidate will always seem worse and Markus and his lot always passed the buck and refused to bite the bullet, refusing to ever draw any serious lines in the sand)
And so they always capitulated...always compromised...and trained their kids and grandkids to always be the same ethically...to be relativists politically and morally.
That's the eternal fruits of relativism. It winds up mortgaging the next generations.
It's the attitude that these FR would vote for whoever they thought might be the "best' 'tween THE anti-Christ & a reincarnated Hitler.
You seem to know neither early church history or denominational distinctives.
What is consistent with both -- comparing the early church fathers with denominational leaders today -- is that just about all of them made key distinctions 'tween someone who was an errorist and somebody who was a heretic.
Tertullian was a Montanist (kind of like the charismatics of his day), yet was well-respected by other Christian leaders during his time and afterwards. Somebody might regard Montanism as having an errorist strain; but they would not usually treat that sect the way they did heretics and heresies.
Your use of the word "wrong" is similar to considering other denominations "wrong" on some key doctrine or two. Yet even the most traditional of Protestant denominations (Lutheranism, Presbyterianism, etc.) regard other Christian denominations as brothers in Christ...not heretics.
They do make distinctions 'tween a Methodist, who they would regard as "Christian" denomination -- and a JW -- which has embraced the ancient heresy of Arianism.
So, no. Your statement that the opinion is that "all the rest are heretics" is an ignorant asenine conclusion that attempts to place words in the mouth of countless Christian denominations and their leaders!
You wouldn't want that done for you, would you?
Oh my, dear brother in Christ. Please do forgive me: Although I carry no brief for Romney, and am not campaigning for him, I think in all fairness that these remarks are so hyperbolic that they constitute a caricature of the man.
Just my two-cents' worth....
:)
I miss both Sandy and Resty. I keep praying for them.
Are you an athiest or an agnostic?
If he had stuck to fiction, he might not have been killed in a gunbattle.
Not all Mormons oppose it (I know many who see it as a gateway to polygamy) and the LDS church has been fighting for ‘gay rights’ in Salt Lake City.
They are both ‘bowing down’ to the same policies.
The rants of Brigham Young are pitiful. They are the resulf of an ill-educated character who failed to understand the true message of the Bible. The hate and vile in his message speak of a troubled man captive in his own narcissism.
You will find faults with many of the world’s cults and, those of us who are Christian, have a big job to set our fellow man on the right path. We should not condemn, like Brigham Young, but love everyone; even when they fail to know the good word of Christ. It is those who know the truth that have a responsibility to tell the truth in a way that will lift up our fellow man; not put him down. We should show the light of our lives, warn those who do not know what they are doing that there is danger, and tell all that there is a better way. The good news is Christ’s love which all people can enjoy—even Willard Romney who is being deceived by a cult religion!
