Man Beaten By Mob, In Critical Condition (one of them said "Now thats justice for Trayvon.")

MOBILE, Alabama -- Mobile police need your help to catch a mob that beat Matthew Owens so badly that he's in critical condition.

According to police, Owens fussed at some kids playing basketball in the middle of Delmar Drive about 8:30 Saturday night. They say the kids left and a group of adults returned, armed with everything but the kitchen sink.

Police tell News 5 the suspects used chairs, pipes and paint cans to beat Owens.

Owens' sister, Ashley Parker, saw the attack. "It was the scariest thing I have ever witnessed." Parker says 20 people, all African American, attacked her brother on the front porch of his home, using "brass buckles, paint cans and anything they could get their hands on."

Police will only say "multiple people" are involved.

What Parker says happened next could make the fallout from the brutal beating even worse. As the attackers walked away, leaving Owen bleeding on the ground, Parker says one of them said "Now thats justice for Trayvon."

I had seen the gentleman’s post a bit back, and I was floored that someone had the mettle to write it. However, I cannot seem to find it again right now, but maybe it’s because I’m tired.

I do see references to it though, and the usual is it/ was it racist questions.

I don’t believe it is/ was, and I don’t believe what I said is. It just simply is the reality of America 2012. I believe it is what one must do in order to fascilitate both saftey and survival in our current times.

If a particular section of our population finds itself at the wrong end of such wisdom, I don’t know what else to say other than they brought themselves there, and I’m not concerned with their feelings. I am concerned with the safety of law abiding, decent citizens, including myself.

There is very serious trouble coming, and I’m not sure it can be avoided.

Be smart. Use your head. Don’t go places where you shouldn’t be. Don’t put yourself at risk. If someone or a group of people give you bad vibes, pay attention, leave. This can explode anywhere anytime. We are not safe.

The real good news about this story, if there is one, is that it will put to bed, forever, anything about blacks being in a lesser position in terms of wealth, education, achievement because of oppression by whites.

It will also solidify the need for things like eliminating affirmative action, voter identification, and other concerns such as these.
