I will definitely vote for Goode over Romney or Obama.

He is without doubt the most conservative candidate: pro small government, pro-God, pro-life, pro-gun, pro-natural marriage and family, etc.

I saw his website, and he clearly would have been among the most conservative candidates, perhaps the most conservative candidate, had he been in the GOP-E Romney Beauty Pageant.

If Clinton got 43% of the vote, then that left 57% out there someplace. George W Bush was NOT able to get it.

I’d blame that on GW raising taxes and being go-along-to-get-along on everything else.

The truth is that every poll in the last number of years has said America is approx. 40% conservative, 35% moderate, and 25% liberal. That means a UNION OF CONSERVATIVES could win the election.

Vote Conservative: Cast a vote for Goode and not for the lesser of two evils.

I just can’t bring myself to support Romney. I’ll consider it with the right VP choice and if there’s significant and sincere outreach to cultural conservatives/pro life agenda. So far I’ve seen nothing of that. I live in Californicrapper, so this state is locked up for Barry O anyway.

Goode won on the first ballot, barley. Meaning 49% of the delegates voted against their only candidate with any semblance of name recognition let alone a record in office or any remote qualification to be President.

Must be a smart bunch.

On second thought maybe they couldn’t stomach that he used to be a democrat and supporter of Doug Wilder. If your party is gonna be pure it may as well be PURE, no? Half of the libertarian party hated Bob Barr.

There are things I like in their platform as well as...

• Their Preamble: "The Constitution Party gratefully acknowledges the blessing of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as Creator, Preserver and Ruler of the Universe and of these United States. We hereby appeal to Him for mercy, aid, comfort, guidance and the protection of His Providence as we work to restore and preserve these United States."
• Sanctity of Life: "The pre-born child, whose life begins at fertilization, is a human being created in God's image. The first duty of the law is to prevent the shedding of innocent blood. It is, therefore, the duty of all civil governments to secure and to safeguard the lives of the pre-born."
• Support for government being closer to the people and enumerated powers: "The closer civil government is to the people, the more responsible, responsive, and accountable it is likely to be. The Constitution, itself, in Articles I through VI, enumerates the powers which may be exercised by the federal government."
• A high Personal Character standard: "Our party leaders and public officials must display exemplary qualities of honesty, integrity, reliability, moral uprightness, fidelity, prudence, temperance, justice, fortitude, self-restraint, courage, kindness, and compassion. If they cannot be trusted in private life, neither can they be trusted in public life."
• They oppose any constitutional convention for good reason:"We oppose any attempt to call for a Constitutional convention, for any purpose whatsoever, because it cannot be limited to any single issue, and such convention could seriously erode our Constitutionally protected unalienable rights." They want to get the Federal Government out of Education. Since the Feds have driven God out of schools and are pushing a pro-sodomy agenda, I have to agree. "Since the Constitution grants the Federal Government no authority over Education, the 10th Amendment applies:"
• They want out of the UN completely.
• They are opposed to gambling, but want to leave it to the states. And give states control over Indian nations.
• They seem to want to eliminate government regulation of businesses. But they don't seem to have thought that through.
• They are very pro-gun and pro bill of rights.
• They want to completely deregulate medicine. But again, I'm not sure they've really thought that through. But it's a better direction than were we are currently headed.
• They are for border control of immigration. And oppose H1-b's.
• They want to get the Federal judiciary out of opposing God. And seem willing to impeach judges for bad behavior.
• They are against pornography.

  Things I don't like...

• Congressional Reform: They want to roll back the 17th amendment and make senators appointed by state governments instead of elected. Not sure that's cause and effect and seems a misguided effort to me. "With the advent of the 17th amendment, a vital check on Congress was removed. Since then, Congress has usurped power relatively unchecked, where today, very few members of Congress make it through a single session, without violating their oath of office to the Constitution."
• Congressional Reform: They seem to be completely unrealistic about Congressional delegation of powers: "Congress must once again be accountable to the people and obedient to the Constitution, repealing all laws that delegate legislative powers to regulatory agencies, bureaucracies, private organizations, the Federal Reserve Board, international agencies, the President, and the judiciary."
• They want to put drug control at the state or local level and limit Feds to border control. "The Constitution Party will uphold the right of states and localities to restrict access to drugs and to enforce such restrictions. We support legislation to stop the flow of illegal drugs into these United States from foreign sources. As a matter of self-defense, retaliatory policies including embargoes, sanctions, and tariffs, should be considered."
• They want to end electronic voting. I think Electronic voting just needs a serious set of controls and multi-party oversight that are rigidly adhered to.
• While they define marriage as one man one woman, they want to leave the definition to the states, which will result in sodomy being recognized as marriage.
• They think a gold standard would somehow help. It would not. It wouldn't stop an irresponsible Congress from borrowing. It would return us to depressions every 20 years, which is what we had on the gold standard.
• They are against social security and any kind of individual welfare. (This stand might be a deal breaker for me. I see a scriptural mandates for individuals, churches and yes, governments too to help the poor.)

Virgil Goode appears to differ from the official Constitutional Party platform on social security and welfare. Which is good, because the party platform needs to be rethought.

The Constitution Party advocates phasing out the entire Social Security program, while continuing to meet the obligations already incurred under the system. Until the current Social Security system can be responsibly phased out, we propose that:"

Why is this silent about wars that have not been Constitutionally formally declared by Congress? This seems fundamental. The omission is glaring and subverts their message. Continuing the war and job-exporting policies of Republican and Democrats makes them no different than Romney and Obama.
