Ive always been puzzled by the nursery rhyme Little Jack Horner: Little Jack Horner sat in the corner, eating a Christmas pie; he put in his thumb, and pulled out a plum, and said, What a good boy am I!
It seems rather odd that Jack is sitting in the corner with his plum- covered thumb held high, and saying, What a good boy am I! Its usually bad boys who are sent to the corner for punishment. It seems hes trying to draw unwarranted attention to himself and is wanting credit for the pie.
We naturally want to draw attention to ourselves, to show off our accomplishments and abilities. Sometimes we think that life is all about us. But living like that is self-delusion at its worst. In reality, our sinfulness has put us in the corner, from Gods point of view. Thankfully, Pauls testimony gives us the right perspective. In spite of his impressive credentials, he gladly surrendered to the supremacy of Jesus: But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ (Phil. 3:7). Paul admitted that in order to gain Christ (v.8), he had to lay all of his trophies down.
So, give Jesus Christ the braggin rights of your life. Or, as Paul put it, He who glories, let him glory in the Lord (1 Cor. 1:31)not in yourself!

Hi Everybody!

Great thread.
I was raised North of Ft. Worth about 50 miles and my Dad worked at Vough Aeronautics in Grand Prairie. There was a Naval Air Station there adjacent to LTV where they tested the aircraft Vought buil;t for the Navy.
I remember visiting both places as a child and seeing the old B-36 bombers. They used to have a big one parked out in front for years.
Here’s my own thread about a trip I made to Naval Base Coronado last weekend. Lots and lots of Pics of Naval vessels anchored there

Okay, I’ll bet you didn’t know what you are about to read -
INCREDIBLE
. I DIDN’T KNOW TOM HANKS FATHER WAS THE LEAD SINGER OF THE DIAMONDS WAY BACK IN 1957! THEY STILL SOUND EXACTLY THE SAME AS THEY DID!
Here are 2 Performances 47 years apart
If you were alive in 1957, and old enough to enjoy Rock and Roll, you will probably remember the group, “The Diamonds” who had just launched their super hit “Little Darlin’ “. For you that are too young to remember - it was a time when the performers were happy, enjoying themselves, respecting their fans, dressed appropriately and their lyrics could be understood. They did not feel obligated to scream, eat the microphone, mumble inaudible lyrics or trash the set.
In 1957, The Diamonds had a hit with “Little Darlin”
. 47 years later, they were requested to perform at Atlantic City ... This link leads to both performances.
Watch the first one then scroll down for the new one 47 years later.
