A spokesperson for Waukesha County District Attorney Brad Schimel told 27 News Schimel has launched an investigation into allegations that free sandwiches given out on election day by Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney violated Wisconsin law.
Waukesha County investigator detective David Witkowski told 27 News the criminal probe began Wednesday with interviews and requests for records.
On Tuesday, April 3, Romney and Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan greeted people at a Cousins Subs restaurant on Pearl Street. News video shows Romney encouraging people to vote and inviting them to pick up free sandwiches.
"A reasonable person would understand that Romney's statement was an offer of a sandwich for individuals who were going to vote in the Republican primary, who had already voted in the Republican primary, and the sandwiches had been provided not by Cousins Subs," wrote Melissa Baldauff of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin in a complaint field with the state Government Accountability Board.
Wisconsin law bars people from offering anything valued at more than $1 as an inducement to vote.

Mitt bribing people with sandwiches to go vote for him. Incredible. HOW could Ryan join him in a such cheap scam? For shame!

Wisonsin. Stats. Section 12.11(1m)(a) states, in pertinent part, that any person who offers, gives, lends or promises to give or lend, or endeavors to procure, anything of value, or any office or employment or any privilege or immunity to, or for, any elector, or to or for any other person, in order to induce any elector to:
(1). Go to or refrain from going to the polls;
(2). Vote or refrain from voting;
(3). Vote or refrain from voting for or against a particular person;
(4). Vote or refrain from voting for or against a particular referendum; or on account of any elector having done any of the above.
Section 12.60(2)(b), Wis. Stats., further provides that, “If a successful candidate for the legislature or U.S. congress is adjudged guilty in a criminal action of any violation of this chapter under sub. (1) (a) committed during his or her candidacy, the court shall after entering judgment certify its findings to the presiding officer of the legislative body to which the candidate was elected.”

If the invitation was general, no inducements were made in exchange for the the sandwiches and no electioneering was going on, it is NOT reasonable to conclude the sandwiches were being exchanged for Republican votes. Further, plaintiff has not established the value of the sandwiches.

Is that really the law in Wisconsin? In the states I am familiar with the giveaway has to be linked with electioneering for a particular candidate or party in proximity to the polls, or the specific agreement to exchange the thing for a vote.
It will be funny to watch if this multimillion dollar smear machine gets rocked over some clammy cold cuts and french bread.

The jack is better too. In a state adjacent to mine the vassals can expect hams, turkeys, even radios and televisions. I went nuts when I first saw it but it is legal. A candidate who only puts out chicken, barbeque or gumbo is considered a real cheapskate.

Look at part (2) in the summary of the law above. Just giving the sandwich to vote is wrong; it doesn’t have to be, or believed to be, in exchange for a vote for a particular person (that’s part (3)).
I trust y’all are see just one example of why our Founder and Leader and us TEA Party Patriot FReepers like you and y’all, are totally against Romney.
Like Newt Gingrich has said along, Romney would buy the presidency if he could.
