Best Buy on Saturday announced the locations of 50 stores that it is closing this year, including seven in California, six in Illinois and six in the company's home state of Minnesota

Lot of Vancouver residents live between the Best-Buy location and the bridge. And there is a Best-Buy store only 500 yards from the bridge in Portland. So in my case may be 5 miles extra driving to shop in Portland.
Same thing happened to my favorite golf store in Vancouver...they cllosed because they could not compete with Oregon stores with zero sales tax versus 8.5% sales tax in Vancouver. When you consider cheapest name brand driver costs around $300, there is a $27 penalty in Vancouver.
“Amazon is hitting them hard, Ive read.”
Not a fraction as hard as Obamacare is going to hit them.
Happy to see none of “my” stores are on the list. I love Best Buy. I don’t like buying expensive electronics by mail.
I have heard good and bad about them through the years. My friend has a 17" HP laptop for a year...it has given him no problems. My family has bought from Dell refurbished and done OK. Dell warranties are good with at home (they come to you) service. You don't mail your computer to Sony which I think is the case with them. I could be wrong and maybe a place like BestBuy will repair it in their store
>Circuit City died because they had idiots running the company.......<
They did?

The online CC is not the same as the now defunct CC that went BANKRUPT in 2009. They just bought the domain name........

I wont be purchasing the laptop from Best Buy since I just checked the prices and nothing went down so I think I will just buy it from TigerDirect..they offer a warranty through squaretrade, two years, 159 bucks including accidental damage but I dont know anything about squaretrade, how reliable is their service? TigerDirect told me that if anything goes wrong with the laptop squaretrade will either send me a check to purchase a new laptop or just replace it with a brand new one(If its still being made) but I will contact them to get more info about their warranties

that is the laptop I am planning on buying, except I am getting it from TigerDirect for 619-20 dollar coupon, free shipping, no sales tax..what do you think?
Oh and I will be upgrading the memory too, will be purchasing a crucial 4gb memory card for 19 bucks so it will make the laptop 8gb instead of 4
More later but dig deep and find out if the 4gb memory it comes with is 4gb in one slot or 2 x 2gb cards...... a 2gb memory module in each slot. If the later you will be buying 2 4gb mem modules to reach 8gb
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1814905&CatId=4938 >>>>>>> Seems to indicate you get 1 4gb memory module w second slot empty for another 4gb module
Is the keyboard back lit? That’s very nice when spending big money
It comes with “1” 4gb of memory, and has another open slot so I can put in whatever I want..so what I was planning on doing was upgrading it with another 4gb to make it 8gb in total..I called TigerDirect and they told me that I would have 14 days to return the laptop if it was defective, and they would send me a new one, but I CANNOT return it if I dont like it..is that the way it is in all stores, that if you buy an electronic item and you dont like it you cant return it(Or face a restocking fee like best buy charges)..I just wanted to be sure all stores pretty much do the same thing
Oh, and its NOT backlit, something I dont need anyway..I hear that the backlight keyboards offer nothing but problems anyway, and its a battery drainer so its not something that I need
I recommend that you review some opinions on customer service and warranties for TigerDirect before making a decision. I did, and went elsewhere.
JR.com offers free shipping/no sales tax, and they price match so I think I am going to go with them(Will contact them tomorrow) they offer returns on anything up to 14 days I believe, no questions asked..I wouldnt want to buy a laptop, not like it and be stuck with it. I guess every company has their own policy
J&R is a New York retailer that has been around forever. I have not dealt with them. Someone else here suggested Newegg, about which I have read good things. There are lots of opinons on the Net on customer service for all the online retailers. Just Google a few of their names together and you will come up with threads on the topic. Narrow it to the last year to make sure you are up to date. Good luck with your purchase.
Thanks so much appreciate it! Yeah Newegg is great, except for one thing, sales tax for Cali, yep they charge sales tax for CA purchases otherwise I would go with them
I’ll drive past 8 best buys to get to the microcenter in st Louis park.
Needed a power supply 60 bucks at bb.15 at microcenter. nuff said.
