Vote 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Party — Vote Newt!!!
I will not vote for Romney. He should have a (D) behind his name. ABO sounds as stupid as the Dems ABB did in 2004 .....(spit)
Mr. R., my just turned 18 year old son will vote for the FIRST time on April 24 in the PA Primary. He has made up his own mind...and is voting for Rick Santorum. At his young age he KNOWS Romney is no conservative and won’t be a conservative President.
(And if it’s not a hot day, he and his buddies are all planning to wear sweater vests—drives several of their unionista teachers crazy).
So why arent there attempts to get RINO Romney disqualified since hes not a natural born citizen ?
This would get rid on Romney, and push Gingrich to the top.
Also it would shine a light on the natural born citizen requirement for ALL presidential candidates......

Your problem, Jim, is that you have standards.

Right on.
I am no fan of Mitt. There are several others who I would prefer to see as the GOP nominee.
No one is questioning your right to allocate FR's resources as you see fit. It is YOUR website. And I am in 100% agreement with your statement that we must work even harder to elect TRUE conservatives at all levels..local, state, as well as to Congress. Freepers should donate DIRECTLY whatever they choose to candidates they believe, and can support, and NOT to any campaign committees.
However, I must question your decision NOT to vote for Romney under any circumstances. I myself will hold my nose and vote for him. I would remind you of the following:
1. The next president may will get to nominate anywheres from 1-3 justices to the Supreme Court.
2. I am in Florida. There is no way on God's green earth that Obama can win the election without Florida. As his poll numbers have sunk, Dems are now,( probably to delude themselves) starting to float the idea that Obama has "alternate paths" to an Electoral College majority. This is lunacy. The idea that Obama could lose Florida, yet somehow win, say, North Carolina, and Indiana is at best, a 1000:l shot.
3. I would remind you of the 2000 election results.
Assume, hypothetically that you had been as vehemently opposed to Bush as you are to Romney.
If just 25% of Florida's 2000+ Freepers had taken your advice and NOT voted for Bush, then Al Gore would be president, and then, truly, God help these United States.
I would respectfully suggest that you re-examine and rethink your position in this regard.
Another 4 years of Obama in the WH, even with Republican control of both the House and Senate, will do irreperable harm to the country we both love. That is a given, an absolute. As bad as he has been to date, after November, when he won't have to be concerned with being re-elected, he will do far, far, worse. Heck, he told it to the Russians in the last "open-mike" episode.
You can't compare this to what you fear Romney "might" do if he is elected. There is no option, except to vote for Romney, albeit very grudgingly, and with many reservations.
Jimbo....I don’t like Romney either. I voted for Newt. But if Romney is the nominee who to support? I think a vote for someone other than Romney is a vote for Bammy.
I feel with Romney, if we control the House and Senate we have a seat at the table. With Bammy we’ve got nothing.
Help me understand where I’m wrong on this.
Yes, Romney is the worst nominee for the Republican party but he is still better than Obama the socialist.
I think that Republicans and Conservatives who live in critical battleground states where the entire Presidential elections is won and lost then it is highly recommended that they vote for Romney despite all the many problems with him. However those who live in states where Romney is assured to win or Obama is assured to win no matter what then they have the luxury of not voting for the President spot on the ballot. Most importantly it is extremely important that every Republican and Conservative get out to vote because Republicans must a least keep the House and hopefully win the Senate so even if Obama wins his damage would be greatly limited. Having said that the best scenario at the end is to defeat Obama next November...
Thanks, Captain. No votes for Romney in this house.
I’ve scanned this thread because it was brought to my attention by another FReeper.
Jim (and all) your opinions of Romney have been quite clear and you’ve been very vocal about them.
And many of you were particularly vocal, in vicious, nasty ways, when there were better candidates; far better(I would say exceptional) than what we are left with now.
I’ll never forget the way in which Governor Perry and his supporters were treated on this forum. But what was stunning was that it was allowed with the participation of many veteran FReepers, mods and even you Jim.
In fact, Jim, you screamed (computer wise) at Cincinatus’ Wife for posting a pro Perry post on a Cain thread and told her to “get the hell off the thread”. Absolutely stunning and shocking. At that time, I thought perhaps your account was being used by someone ‘other’ than you (and said that to those who were upset over it) as you were, at that time, going through some serious health issues. But I read through here and see that the style of telling those to go get F’d is the same as it was then and directed at some longtime FReepers...FReepers who donated and thought they had a home here. Just wow...
Personally, I was initially for Gov Palin. A Palin/Perry or Perry/Palin ticket was, imho, the dream ticket. But it was not to be. And it was clear after the Iowa debacle that Palin was not in it to be a candidate. The treatment of Christine O’Donnell at that event and the entire chaotic presentation showed just how far her organization devolved (again imo) and how disorganzied it was.
She was never serious about running so I moved on to Gov Perry. A man who is running the 13th largest economy in the world, a man who has been loyal to the constitution, a man who served his country honorably. What was the response on FR? Ugly, nasty defaming comments. Perry’s supporters had to endure name calling, and personal attacks with no moderation what so ever. We were called racists, and then accused of being for open borders (go figure). La Raza Rick, Guardisil Rick, Trans Corridor Rick ... with abosolutely no reasoning with those posters at all; and some were even encouraged by mods.
And now look at what we are stuck with. Not that FR had the influence to determine that but I do consider it a ‘picture’ of conservative thinking which, is as chaotic as I’ve ever witnessed in my life.
We are not electing a king but we are trying to rid ourselves of a king/tyrant wanna-be. A man who is a traitor to this nation; who is giving aid and comfort to our enemies. A man WHO IS ATTACKING AMERICANS and everything American has stood for! I will crawl over broken glass to vote against him.
Romney has been very vocal about supporting 2nd amendment rights, choosing constitutional justices, defunding planned parenthood etc. Now these may be different than when he was gov of Mass but we forgive Newt Gingrich for his background and we’re willing to accept him for what he has done and based upon what he says he now believes INCLUDING global warming etc.
I just want to know what the hell the difference is? I have a posting of Newt’s record too and believe me, he HAS NOT BEEN A CONSTITUTIONAL conservative always either. But NOT voting is NOT an option.
The other day there was a thread on Romney and like I said then, I hope Newt can pull a rabbit out because he’ll have my vote but make no mistake about it, Newt Gingrich is as responsible for the situation we are in as GW, or any of the RINOS.
Why do you believe Gingrich has changed and yet, don’t believe Romney when he says he has too?
If Romney is the nominee, I will vote for him. I may hate it but I love my country more than I hate Romney.
Newt’s record coming up. NOT to disparage the man but to show that he too has jumped the shark at times.
I believe him when he says he was wrong; I believe Romney too ......who the hell is left? Ron ‘crazy uncle in the attic’ Paul???
Getting on this thread a little late, had to work an extra six hours to revive some ailing servers at the company. Ain't Friday the 13th a lovely thing??? :)
Anyway, as I've said before, I'm all in with Jim and the FR team, praying for Newt to surprise everybody and Romney to fail epically at the convention, and if that doesn't happen I'm writing in SARAH PALIN on my ballot because that's what I believe!!!
All of us in Democrat states*, where an Obama electoral win is certain regardless of what we do, HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY to the rest of us and TO AMERICA to show that we won't stand for having the GOPe shove yet another moderate LIBERAL ANTI-CONSERVATIVE down our throats!! A vote for Romney is a wasted opportunity to give the GOPe the message that we have had it up to here and it's OVER!
Enough is enough! Hell, enough has already been TOO MUCH!!!
REBELLION IS ON! FreeRepublic is leading the way!!
And DONT TREAD ON ME!!!
It’s Friday the 13th, I can prove it: I can’t even get a tubulin blot to work.
Nobody is asking for your help Jim/FR, I hated this romney thing some time ago. Please do not allow your actions to re-elect the known.
Amen! We can do lots of productive things.
Supporting the slightly less Socialist Mitt 0bamney is not among them.
Great, Jim, lets vote for Obama. Let’s be real. It will be either Obama or Romney. As much as I will hold my nose and vote for Romney, the alternative is out of the question. There is no 3rd party that will stand a chance to win. As a result, every vote for a 3rd party is one less vote against Obama. So, if you want Obama to win, keep it up. Banish me if you so choose for me speaking my mind, but your mission, if successful, will lead to only one result: President Obama 2012-2016. To me, that is no option. You are much smarter than that. Please do not re-elect Obama.
