The Mess Obama Inherited
Unknown

Posted on 04/12/2012 6:03:39 AM PDT by DaveA37

This tells the story, why Bush was so bad at the end of his term, or so they say.........

The day the democrats took over was not January 22nd 2009, it was actually January 3rd 2007 the day the Democrats took over the House of Representatives and the Senate, at the very start of the 110th Congress.

The Democrat Party controlled a majority in both chambers for the first time since the end of the 103rd Congress in 1995.

For those who are listening to the liberals propagating the fallacy that everything is "Bush's Fault", think about this:

January 3rd, 2007 was the day the Democrats took over the Senate and the Congress. At the time:

The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77

The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%

The Unemployment rate was 4.6%

George Bush's Economic policies SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of JOB GROWTH

Remember the day...

January 3rd, 2007 was the day that Barney Frank took over the House Financial Services Committee and Chris Dodd took over the Senate Banking Committee.

The economic meltdown that happened 15 months later was in what part of the economy?

BANKING AND FINANCIAL SERVICES!

Unemployment... to this CRISIS by (among MANY other things) dumping 5-6 TRILLION Dollars of toxic loans on the economy from YOUR Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac FIASCOES!

Bush asked Congress 17 TIMES to stop Fannie & Freddie - starting in 2001 because it was financially risky for the US economy.

And who took the THIRD highest pay-off from Fannie Mae AND Freddie Mac? OBAMA

And who fought against reform of Fannie and Freddie? OBAMA and the Democrat Congress

So when someone tries to blame Bush...

REMEMBER JANUARY 3rd, 2007.... THE DAY THE DEMOCRATS TOOK OVER!"

Budgets do not come from the White House. They come from Congress and the party that controlled Congress since January 2007 is the Democrat Party.

Furthermore, the Democrats controlled the budget process for 2008 & 2009 as well as 2010 & 2011.

In that first year, they had to contend with George Bush, which caused them to compromise on spending, when Bush somewhat belatedly got tough on spending increases.

For 2009 though, Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid bypassed George Bush entirely, passing continuing resolutions to keep government running until Barack Obama could take office. At that time, they passed a massive omnibus spending bill to complete the 2009 budgets.

And where was Barack Obama during this time? He was a member of that very Congress that passed all of these massive spending bills, and he signed the omnibus bill as President to complete 2009..

If the Democrats inherited any deficit, it was the 2007 deficit, the last of the Republican budgets. That deficit was the lowest in five years, and the fourth straight decline in deficit spending. After that, Democrats in Congress took control of spending, and that includes Barack Obama, who voted for the budgets.

If Obama inherited anything, he inherited it from himself. In a nutshell, what Obama is saying is I inherited a deficit that I voted for and then I voted to expand that deficit four-fold since January 20th.

How dare you start bringing up facts in this emotional argument as to who is at fault.

To this day I don’t understand why Republicans run from President Bush. Yes, he made mistakes during his 8 years. But for the most part, the economic numbers don’t lie. There was prosperity during the Bush years - and this with the aftermath of 911 and while fighting two wars. The Republicans should be quoting that 4.6% unemployement number and they should be stressing that the downturn began when the rats took over the House. Unemployment didn’t spike until the actual collapse occurred.

The presidential transition of Barack Obama began when he won the United States presidential election on November 4, 2008, and became the President-Elect.

=

Obama knew and/or should have known what he was "inheriting," and he's the one who wanted the job. NO EXCUSES!!

Bush '43 had no transition as Algore contested the election.

W was awesome at fighting terrorism. However, he was lost at sea, depending on whatever conservative stalwarts in Congress to fill the gap. W’s worst, and most eggregious failure was establishment of the DHS and TSA. Judging by the result, I am tempted to call that one act traitorous.

Considering the ‘Progressives’ were out to utterly destroy the legitimacy his Presidency (’selected’ not elected for starters), it’s a wonder we had any success at all. Obama has continued ‘Bush’s tax cuts’ even when he had full control of Congress AND he has expanded the war on terror beyond anything Bush could have imagined. (There’s no way anyone in the world would stand for drone assasinations from President Bush.)
Bush never called Democrats ‘enemies’. Obama has called me his ‘enemy’. I take that seriously.

The Republicans should be quoting that 4.6% unemployement number and they should be stressing that the downturn began when the rats took over the House. ....I have, right here on FR. One rebuttal was that jobs were a “bubble” that W should have known about about. Someone posted a graph of oil and/or gas prices and charged it to Pelosi after her ILLEGAL trip to Islamic countries.

Good to see a thread on this. Have been saying this for years as well! These FACTS have got to go viral. The Democrats DO in fact own this whole mess. And we want to give them another four years? NO!

Not necessarily disagreeing with you, but I also think that when the socialists and communists got a whiff of what power they could yield through those two organizations, they jumped on it and subverted the vision W had for it...TSA to keep our airways safe from a repeat of 9/11, and the DHS to improve communication and information sharing between all intelligence and law enforcement agencies. Both of those were failures that allowed 9/11 to happen.

The fact that those with dictatorial and totalitarian visions hijacked the original mission and turned it into harassment and subjection agencies against the American people can not all be blamed on W. He had to do something to address the failures that made it easier for the terrorists to attack us. Maybe he should have foreseen what would happen if those agencies fell into the wrong hands.

Or maybe they should not have been created at all, but I don’t know what the alternatives were at the time. Hopefully the privatization of airport security leads to the demise of the TSA in the long run.

I don’t think Hussein ever really expected to be nominated or elected, but once the lunacy of the left was realized, he was in WAY OVER HIS HEAD! Rather than learn from his [MANY] mistakes, his arrogance and marxist training took hold and that, along with a WEAK congress and crooked judiciary, he is on his way to realizing his dream - Getting whitey and destroying America!

And I understand your belief that it was not W's intention to have these two organizations do what they actually do now. My position is that he did nothing beyond their creation and did not cement and limit their power and influence in EVERY American Citizen's life. He was absent without leave on this. He did not ensure the protocols to limit the potential of what these two agencies have become. And, that is what I'm pissed about.

Democrat locusts fly in, lay waste to everything in their search for fodder with which to purchase votes, then blame the resulting disaster on Republicans.

It’s a well-worn tactic which antedates Lenin and Mao, among others, who used it to appeal to the proletariat in their Machiavellian rise to power.

Now, of course, Obama’s attempting the same thing, and, if successful, he will destroy America.

Unfortunately, the Republicans don’t seem particularly inclined to point out the true nature of the pestilence.

Thanks for compiling the facts for this great thread.

__________

You might add the facts for total employed per year, probably better on a new thread with a “follow the money” theme.

My interest is in any data you have on the total NON-GOVERNMENT, (Local, State and Federal), employed per year.

You are so right on that. It seems that pretty much every politician is a big government politician, and that shrinking or limiting government is not something they even think about. The Rats just think bigger than the GOP, but both think big.
