MIAMI (CBSMiami) – George Zimmerman has been charged with second-degree murder for the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, according to the Associated Press.
Additionally, Zimmerman has been taken into custody, but it hasn’t been revealed where he is being held.
CBSMiami has confirmed that State Attorney Angela Corey, who was appointed as a special prosecutor in the case, will hold an announcement about the charges at 6 p.m. in Jacksonville.

Thank you. Stay away. Note that the Sanford Police and the DA had handled this problem correctly UNTIL a bunch of yankee blacks came down to Florida and decided to blow this up into a Big Thing. Then the media, which is based in NYC latched on to the story and started banging the drum. Then, our illustrious President (from Hawaii, Kenya, Indonesia, and Illinois) and his racist AG (from the Bronx) got involved.
The people of Florida that you hate so much were the ones that created a simple Stand Your ground law along with an easy to obtain shall-issue CWL (the first in the nation, BTW, you are very welome). Corey has done a pretty good job, but the state came under so much pressure from OUT-OF-STATE forces that eventually it caved in and committed this travesty of justice because we have become a nation of men and not a nation of laws.
So, please stay out of my state. I get so sick of people coming here telling us how backward we are because we aren’t your home state. Well, I-95 and I-75 go both ways. Feel free to use the northbound lane!
Did you know that Britain warns people not to come to your state? Seems some blacks killed two British students awhile back and your State has done little to nothing to seek justice there. Brits are not threatening to burn down Miami and they are not issuing death contracts like the nbpp is doing. NOTHING is happening to find their murderers either... plus they are white. You're absolutely right...a nation of men...that's your problem...you caved. Don't get mad at the people 'dissing' Florida because your leaders 'caved' to pressure. Your leaders are the problem...take your anger out on them. They deserve it.
The message this charge sends is that if one has to defend themselves against a protected minority, don’t tell anyone, just walk away.

I think the jury will be made up of the kind OJ had. Zimmerman is toast.

Angela Nifong. DA with political aspirations. She concluded that bringing charges was good a good career move.
I haven’t been to Florida since the Terri Schiavo murder. Now that Angela Nifong is making her career enhancing move against Zimmerman I’m not in a hurry to go back either.
I was on a murder jury once.
Included among the judge’s instructions to us was that we could, as an alternative to a murder conviction, vote for the “lesser included charge” of manslaughter. I suspect that the case will be the same here.
They charged him with 2nd degree as the highest they thought they could reasonbalby get a jury to agree to, and hope to use this to pressure him to pead guilty to manslaughter.
Now whether or not they can even get a conviction on manslaughter is an open question. Given what I know currently, I’d let him walk.
Oh, and that murder trial? We let him go. Seemed like an open and shut case of self-defense to us. All twelve of us.
Tell me, if you know, why other than his recent membership was this guy zotted? I mean, “legal arguments” have been made for the most outrageous positions, and won. Also, there is no telling what a jury would do.
So, he didn’t seem argumentive to me. Is there some history here?
