MIAMI (CBSMiami) – George Zimmerman has been charged with second-degree murder for the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, according to the Associated Press.
Additionally, Zimmerman has been taken into custody, but it hasn’t been revealed where he is being held.
CBSMiami has confirmed that State Attorney Angela Corey, who was appointed as a special prosecutor in the case, will hold an announcement about the charges at 6 p.m. in Jacksonville.

If Sarah Palin were running the media would blame Palin for the death of Travon as the media blamed Palin for that liberal psycho shooting that congress woman and others. But since Palin is not running they let her host the Today show to reward her compliance.

As my screen name indicates, I grew up in Los Angeles, and not in a nice neighborhood...in a little town named Carson, nestled between Compton and Long Beach. The way this is going down is eerily similar to the Rodney King case in that you have a situation where people have their minds made up going into the trial. I dont see any way Zimmerman gets convicted, and that “energy” will likely translate to rioting again. The difference is that this is the South...so unlike Southern California, many residents here are well armed, and while the LA riots were messy and expensive, these could be far worse in a human sense.
That is truly sick.
I wonder if this is quietly resonating with Hispanics. Every time I see Zimmermann’s face, I see a Hispanic face, Hispanics must feel the same way. People identify with people of their own ethnicity so I think that every time the msm shows pictures of Zimmermann it must be having a silent affect on the Hispanic population.

So basically if there’s an unnatural death they have to call it an unlawful death and if they have reason to believe that a specific person was involved in causing the death they have to charge them with a crime? Only after charging somebody with a crime can they give the person the opportunity to explain that it was self-defense, it was an accident, etc?
If that’s the case then Zimmerman should have been arrested a long time ago.
I think the only non-circular route is to have the evidence regarding whether a crime was committed determine whether it was an unlawful death.
For instance, suppose somebody was observed suddenly keeling over dead on the sidewalk, with an appearance consistent with poisoning, or overdose maybe. At what point would they consider it an “unlawful death”?
The scumbag only got eight years in prison. Of course they probably took off more time after he got in prison.
Like I said I didn't see the Prosecutors remarks so I had NO idea what she said.

Well, if Mr. Zimmerman gets a good attorney. He/she will keep as many Blacks off as possible. I suspect that only three of the twelve will be black.
Proving 2nd Degree murder to a jury, beyond a reasonbably doubt, is an extreme uphill battle. I’m surprized the prosecutor didn’t go for a lesser charge. Although I have read she is a “hang-um high” prosecutor not afraid to go for a tough prosecution; normally an admirable trait. Whatever, she won’t be able to prove all the elements required for 2nd Degree Murder in Florida. She will not just a conviction.
While Mr. Zimmerman will be put through a ringer....he will not be convicted of 2nd Degree Murder.
His apparent erratic behavior is consistent with someone that is feeling greef over having to take a life. That speaks well of him, and shows he is not of “depraved mind with no regard for human life” required for a 2nd Degree murder conviction.
How about a hunter accidentally killing another hunter in the woods? Should we have an urban riot over that?

A few seconds after being told (twice) by the dispatcher to "Just let me know if he does anything else", Martin runs, and Zimmerman follows. How else would he be able to report if Martin did "anything else"?

My understanding was that the night Trayvon was shot was the first day of his suspension but now that I think about that it doesn’t make sense because this happened on a Sunday, didn’t it? There have been so many discrepancies in what’s been reported; it’s crazy.
If he had just started his suspension within a day or two it wouldn’t seem likely that he had been involved in previous burglaries, if that’s what you’re thinking about (which I was wondering about too - especially since one of his suspensions involved the guard noticing what he thought was a “burglary tool” as well as lots of women’s jewelry).
Of course, if he visited his dad he might have been around that neighborhood at different times before. Hard to know.
I do wonder if all the attention has had any effect on the behavior of the people there.

The grand jury provision of the 5th has not been incorporated under the 14th; meaning that it is not applicable to the states. I have no idea what Florida’s system provides, but there is not grand jury requirement for a state.
