On March 17, I thought I had it all figured out. I wrote a post [1] on my blog in which I pronounced America’s most famous neighborhood watch captain guilty:

I'm one of Humblegunner's wingmen. I know a blog pimp when I see one but, I also know SWAMPSNIPER(BTW, I have that package on my desk and just need to trott on down to UPS). R2, you have been here as long as me and I would think you would know who SWAMPSNIPER is. He takes some of the most beautiful pictures of wildlife from the hinterlands of the Florida swamps. Here is a recent example:

He isn't a blogpimp. He just posted an article that has a headline which could lead one to infere he is the author but, if you go back and look at the post and the article, he properly posted and excerpted. Crappy excerpt but, that isn't so much his ability to excerpt but more how it was written. He's been just as long you and I maybe longer. Luv your pics!

Making a mistake when posting an article for the first time

My OCD requires me to note that he's made that mistake many times going back to October 2004.

Well besides the usual crappy blog except posted in News which resulted in a thread hijack, we also learned that when it asks for the author, it means well - author.

And not the name of the FReeper posting said blog.

I keep reading the post and it looks to me like Bob Owens is the author with Swampsniper as the poster.

But, WTH do I know? I dropped out of high school so I could stop learnting.

You’re right. Swampy (as me and his fiends know him - I’m obviously making this up) is a nice guy. His photo skills are amazing

I was gonna post that he should stick to posting bird pics and stay away from blogs, but I snarked enough at this fine FReeper for now, and he *was* gracious enough to moon me with a Bart Simpon gif, so I am a happy FReeper.

But check out post #13 to see who was listed as the author of the article prior to the Mods fixing it (good thing I copied and pasted it at the time, or else it would appear that I’m crazy). Incorrectly listing “swampsniper” as the author is what led to all of the confusion.

That’s right, I’m terribly embarrassed of the fact that I know what the word “author” means and don’t just write my screen name under “Author” in dozens and dozens of threads over the past 8 years.

You made a mistake, and it led to confusion. The Mods fixed it for you. Just write down the author’s name next time you start a thread and you can avoid the problem going forward. Not that big of a deal.
