OK about 2 weeks ago my wife was doing SOMETHING on my computer(PC) and SOMEHOW my web "Homepage" got changed to Google.com. I have tried EVERYTHING I can to change it back to what I want(Yahoo). I use Mozilla and even when I look at IE that one was changed too. I HATE Google and I find Yahoo to be SLIGHTLY less offensive. Please Help!
Google is about to buy Yahoo, so it may all be a moot point soon
Here is the link to get you started:
MajorGeeks Trojan Removal Assistance
In a nutshell the process is: Read the instructions, download the recommended anti-malware files, run the files, collect the logs, post the logs to a new thread on the MajorGeeks forum, wait for a reply from MajorGeeks via the forum and then repeat that cycle a couple of times.
If you follow their instructions carefully and post the resulting logs you will get expert help in removing your malware/virus. It may take you a couple of days to complete the job but you will be successful.
Not easy but very effective.
This is the most likely problem.
Go into Uninstall/Remove Programs and remove anything with the name “toolbar” in it. Toolbar trash is never needed
and is just another way for google etc to get a foothold on your PC.
As always, the correct answer is, “Buy a Macintosh.”
Lots of good ideas here, but I say buy a new computer and avoid Mozilla. Put everything in your old computer on a thumb device but just take the most essential stuff to the new computer. You will discover that the thumb device gives you serenity and a feeling of lightness and detachment from your old baggage, 99% of which you will not miss and never be stimulated to access.
No really. Get a new computer. Shopping is fun.

Go to tools, internet options, general, type in: http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/*/index
Make FR your home page - use Startpage.com for searches.
My computer tech installed Mozilla and it wouldn’t accept FR as my home page - IE does.
One of the great things about freeware is it’s free. Download the latest version, and reinstall it. If you’re having issues run something like ccleaner then revouninstaller. Worst case scenario is you lose your bookmarks, never had it happen though. If you need the funky old version check out filehippo.com The older versions of most popular freeware are there.
Go into add or remove programs on your control panel and uninstall the Google Chrome toolbar. I had to do it on my fiancee’s computer.
