Everybody keeps reading this passage wrong. God NEVER said that Cain was his brother’s keeper. He said that Cain was his brother’s murderer. Read it closely.
That said, animals have keepers. Sane human adults don’t.
Exactly, nobody reads the Bible but that don’t stop them from misquoting it.
No, not everyone, just Obama. I've never heard anyone other than him use the particular phrase "brother's keeper" in the way this president does. What's odd perhaps, is that he repeats this particular line time and again. Why this one? Aren't there other biblical allusions that are even slightly more useful for what he wants to say?
Then I realized. Starting from the beginning, this was the first clause he came across that sounded as if it could be successfully demagogued. That's when he stopped reading.
