It's being called a bold move by Tennessee lawmakers - a vote that announces their intent to essentially ignore federal regulations regarding child labor on family farms.
That 70-24 vote came on Monday night.
State Representative Jeremy Faison sponsored House Bill 2669, and says he did so because he feels the new federal regulations being considered just don't belong in our state.
"My immediate reaction was my goodness! This will affect every farm in Tennessee," he said. "We put this bill together to let the Depart of Labor in Washington, D.C. know that they're so far overreaching that we can't go along with this, and that we won't fund it, we won't help them with it."
The U.S. Department of Labor is considering stricter rules regarding child labor in an attempt to keep kids away from some of the most dangerous farm jobs.
Local farmers agree with Faison, and feel it's a bad idea.
*snip*
Those state lawmakers opposed to House Bill 2669 expressed concern that Tennessee farmers could lose federal subsidies or funding, if the state refuses to comply with those regulations.

We're farmers and my husband grew up on this farm. We both let out a "H*ll YEAH!" when we heard this report on the 10:00 news. But it won't surprise us at all if Obamarx and Crew decide to stick it to us. The Feds seem to love screwing with farmers' lives.
I am proud of Tennessee.
Tennesse really made normal Americans stand up and take notice when the people there said “NO!” loud and clear to that sick, lying, stealth rat scumbag Don Sundquist when he tried to help the rats ram a state income tax down their throats after promising during his campaign that he would never allow an income tax.
By the way, I enjoyed Phil Valentine’s radio show during his too-brief tenure here in the Philly area before the radio station, 96.5 WWDB, essentially imploded and disappeared.
Because there are far too many $130,000 a year bureaucrats in DC with far too much time on their hands. And that many are affirmative action (women, gays, blacks etc) knuckleheads who only care about their paychecks. The simple solution is fire half of them
We have about 40 cows on a property that has some wetlands and the EPA has contacted us about putting diapers on our cows so the water is not contaminated!
Have you ever seen a cow take a piss?
I told them I could diaper my cows but what about the deer and coyotes?
The EPA gal said cows were unnatural whereas the deer and coyotes were natural and not their concern and I should contact the local division of wildlife for those questions.
Cows unnatural?!!!
That’s bull$1!!
I heard the feds recently dumped $billion$ on a bunch of farmers to settle a decades-old dispute - - oh wait, those were black (alleged) farmers. D'oh! Of COURSE Ubanga found yet another way to "redistribute" billions of tax dollars to Holder's people.
This scumbag Ubanga is really getting tedious.
The regime's entire agenda seems to center around back-door "reparations".
You need to make a video and post it. It will go viral from here. Put a diaper on a cow. Have Uncle Sam watch his trisexual heir try to put a red one on a bull.
They have been out in our county parked on the side of the road with binoculars counting cow pies to see if we are over grazing... like it was the driest summer in memory last year.
I got out with the chain harrow in front of them and spread them all out. Count that!
Hey, you can still listen to Phil’s radio program online if there isn’t an affiliate station airing his program in Philly. I listen to him every day.
He was the one who rallied the troops to fight the state income tax. That’s when I became a fan.
Our current state legislature has been doing a mighty fine job since we took control in ‘10. I hope we’re able to keep control after the elections this year.
We’re still waiting for Hussein to come after us for the anti-shariah law that was passed last year. And the photo voter ID law too. But since there weren’t any problems during our primaries, they’ll have a hard time coming up with an excuse to come after us on that one.
Fire half of them? I’m all for firing ALL of them!
PLEASE tell me you aren't serious! Diapers??? On cows???
I'd laugh but I have the feeling you are serious.
Something like that makes me glad we grow crops and don't raise livestock.
Hubby's aunt lives here and received a letter a while back inviting her to be a part of that settlement. . . . . they're adding women - black, white, and hispanic - who have been farmers for several years to the whole deal. Needless to say, the invitation was declined.

AWESOME idea. Ridicule helps get rid of bureaucracy faster than anything else. Hell yeah, get out there and diaper a cow (your tamest one; YOU don’t want to get hurt!), then put it on Youtube and send a link to everyone you know. When it gets a buncha hits, call your local TV station. Shine some light on this nonsense!
ROTFLMAO!! That the best laugh I’ve had in a while. Ooooooh, to have been there to see the looks on their faces!
Exactly. The trisexual heir trying to put the red diaper (communism) on the bull (the American Patriot). barry sottero in bib overalls and a straw hat supervising the chaos.
Send the royalty checks to John Thompson, in care of Jim Robinson.
Seriously though, someone with a little knowledge and talent...
I’m glad TN is keeping out the Feds, but I am concerned about the number of immigrants in the cities.

“Nashville, Tennessee has one of the fastest growing foreign-born populations of any major US city....A majority of the Muslim population of Nashville is concentrated in two ethnic groups, Iraqi Kurds and Somalis....”
“We both let out a “H*ll YEAH!” when we heard this report on the 10:00 news.”

We did too! Our children are all doing VERY well because of the great work ethic, common sense gained from seeing cause/effect relationships... and multiple skills that they learned on our farm!!!!
Agrarian life fosters responsibility, maturity, sacrifice, work ethic, strong family ties, proper relationship with nature/creation...
It's no wonder the left DESPISES it.

You are soooooooooooo right, MrB! ;-)
And speaking of the responsible, agrarian lifestyle...I don’t think Harry Reid grew up that way. He won’t even submit a budget...which is required by law.
Don’t neglect that I am SOOOOOO right that the left opposes all of those values, as well...
if I may reiterate my oh-so-humble opinion... :)
