Middle School Students Forced to Support Obama Campaign

A middle school teacher in Fairfax, VA forced the students in his civics honor class to perform research on Republican presidential candidates to find their “weaknesses” The students research was then sent to the Obama campaign. The Daily Caller reported.

The 8th grade students, who attend Liberty Middle School in Fairfax County, were required to seek out the vulnerabilities of Republican presidentialhopeful and forward them to the Obama campaign. “This assignment was just creepy beyond belief — like something out of East Germany during the Cold War,” one frustrated father, who asked for his family to remain anonymous, told The Daily Caller.

Wimp. Wrong response. Stand up and be counted. What's with parents now days? Do they not understand that the school works at the parents' discretion? Be front and center at school board meetings. Run for school board. Sit yourself down in the principal's office and make your demands heard loud and clear. Write letters to the editor. Form a PTO and get other parents involved. Volunteer at school. Be there at afterschool activities. There are a million ways to curtail some of this stupidity. My last one just graduated and I was the cause of some rule change at least twice a year throughout their school years. Sure, it takes some effort to get off the couch but it's for your kids. Besides, it's also fun watching the admin squirm.

Just by way of clarification, the assignment was to find out to WHOM in the Obama campaign they could send their research; apparently, actually sending it wasn’t in the assignment.

Maybe the teacher took that task upon himself? And, one has to wonder, was there a similar assignment to his students in ‘08 when there was a contested Dem primary, with information about who in the McCain campaign should receive the results?

The assignment itself, were it not so partisan, is actually good for students and especially voters who typically know as much about the candidate(s) they vote for as Congressmen know what’s in bills they sign.
