Zimmerman was on the ground being punched when he shot Trayvon Martin(FL)

Last weekend in the city of Chicago alone, gangbangers slaughtered ten people and wounded another forty. The youngest fatality is only six years old. The youngest person wounded is only one-year-old. Many of the victim were pedestrians sprayed with bullets in drive by shootings. The national news has said nothing about this.
So why does one shooting in Florida warrant weeks of national news? Why has there been thousands of articles a day, for the last four days, about one single shooting?
Almost all of the news items about George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin contains a combination of false statements, opinions presented as facts, transparent distortions, and a complete absence of some of the most relevant details. Almost all news items are written soley from the point of view of the grieving family. The media also fills their articles with outdated baby-faced pictures of Trayvon. Very few include that he was a towering 6'2 football player. Is the media really reporting the news, or is this classic agitation/propaganda to advance a political agenda.

"Obviously the police dept handled the whole thing poorly." The police dept handled the WHOLE THING poorly? The 911 operator told him not to follow the guy. But he did and then there was a shooting. The police investigated and The District Attorney did not file. What else would you have had the police do?

"I would be fighting Zimmerman too if he was trying to kill me" I would have shot Trayvon too if I was on my back on the ground and he was punching me in the face and head.

I agree. Zimmerman is toast no matter what happens. It’s become political and it’s really only a matter of time before the feds announce they must take some sort of action.

I pretty much agree.
First, let’s get one thing straight.
This situation has NOTHING AT ALL to do with the average CCW holder who carries for his own protection.
This guys SELF-APPOINTED position was to confront people.
No matter what else, he instigated the situation and bears some culpability for that.
I doubt he would get convicted of murder (or deserves to be convicted of that), unfortunately, we can’t convict him of total asinine stupidity.
Wouldn’t surprise me one bit if manslaughter is the final judgement.
That won’t be enough for the race-mongers though...

Zimmerman is toast no matter what happens. I agree except it is not just Zimmerman who is toast but all of us. The national MSM and race political machine threaten us all and our nation. Maybe he is guilty of a crime and maybe not but if this political Juggernaut proceeds unchallenged it won't matter. We are all losers to race politics and national MSM.

Following someone is not a threat and being followed does not allow someone to attack. If you really believe it does then you should go home and cower under you bed.

I find the comments after the article illuminating.

He placed himself and his weapon into a situation wherein the use of deadly force was a real possibility.
I have taken 4 concealed carry classes in various states and they ALL said that if you seek out the confrontation in the first place then you likely can't claim self defense. Anyone can go around with a concealed gun and provoke people into punching them. That is not self defense. It might not be premeditated murder but it is closer to that than it is to self defense.

I am shocked. Shocked I say by your alarming report!
I shall call the Reverend Al Sharpton immediately and he will be in Tulsa on the next plane. Do not worry. Eric Holder, Al Sharpton, and President Barack Hussein Obama will fight hate crimes no matter who is the perpetrator.
Please call me as soon as the Reverend Al and the other two gentlemen arrive in your community. Perhaps these outstanding public servants were busy comforting those who suffered tragic loss in the recent spate of Tornados?
Yes. That's it. They were busy.

Yep - I hit the “abuse” button as soon as I saw it, needed to alert AdminMod that it could cause a lot of trouble for FR. I see that it’s been deleted, as well it shouldl be.

It does not give you license to pursue and engage suspicious persons walking down a public street.
One of the first things they teach you about concealed carry is you do NOT do anything with a gun that you would not to without it. You don't follow strange men. you don't pick fights. You don't do anything you would avoid doing unarmed. If you do then you open yourself up to prosecution. If I am unarmed and pick a fight with someone that can beat me everyone would call that stupid. If I am ARMED and do that then that might be murder. It is just too darn easy to get in a fight and then blow someone away.

I think there's a reason Zimmerman has not been arrested. Probably another 'beat down' of a whitey that turned out not to have the desired ending.

The role of neighborhood watch is not to confront people. He added that himself. The watch is about watching and reporting. Nothing else. There is no armed patroling or confronting suspects.

It is pretty disturbing how many here are quick to ascribe racism to the guy that got shot when the OTHER guy was recorded on a 911 call to use racial slurs right before he went and started confronted the guy and then shot him.
