The organization that ignited the tea party as a national mass movement gave Mitt Romney perhaps his biggest victory yet, deciding to drop its opposition to his candidacy, a top executive in the group told The Washington Times.
FreedomWorks, which organized the Sept. 12, 2009, mass demonstration on the Mall, says that while it will not give an explicit endorsement, the time has come for Republicans to unite around the former Massachusetts governor and focus on defeating President Obama.
It is a statistical fact that the numbers favor Mitt Romney, FreedomWorks Vice President Russ Walker told The Times on Tuesday. We are dedicated to defeating Obama and electing a conservative Senate that will help Romney repeal Obamacare and address the nations economic and spending challenges.
Mr. Romney has been winning a majority of delegates and has more than twice the number that former Sen. Rick Santorum has, and he continued that run Tuesday with a victory in Illinois.

WoW is that some kind of brain wash,...
Everything about Willard Romney flys in the face of what the Tea Party stands for..
That right there is some very well crafted BRAIN WASH material..
Uh, no.
Any tea party group that endorses Romney has abandoned the roots of the tea party, which are constitutionally limited small govt and fiscal responsibility. Romney is a big govt spender, which is why the GOP-e loves him. He will continue their status quo agenda.
“Well, better uncertainty with him than utter destruction with barry.”
Well stated. If RINO-Romney is the chosen candidate for the GOP I will bite my tongue and pull the lever.
Those that stand firm stating that they “will not vote for Romney under ANY circumstance” might as well stay home or vote for the Communist/Marxist/Socialist 0bama.
4 more years of rule under the boy-Muslim will be the end of America, period. Carve it in stone....America RIP.
GO NEWT!!!
“...all Romney is is Obama lite.”
100% correct.
I’d rather have “lite” than full-blown Socialism. That might give us enough time to find a REAL Conservative to replace Romney next go around.
I read this on FR and it ticked me off so much I called Freedom Works and demanded to know the procedures for obtaining ALL of my contributions back from them. I spoke to several people until I ended up with Mignon May, Membership Marketing Coordinator.
She pleaded with me to read the Daily Caller article posted today.
So I am withholding my request until I have had time to digest the article.
See it here: http://dailycaller.com/2012/03/21/influential-tea-party-group-not-ready-to-coalesce-behind-romney/
At the moment, you are correct about Newt, but Newt’s contribution will become vital later on. This will be his calling, to help organize and guide the direction our new party will take. Newt is far from finished.
Newt will also be the hitching post, for the new party platform. I firmly believe this.
Well, I live on CA and so don’t have a say anyway, but in the primary I’ll be voting for Newt. He won’t be around for the general, however.
My boss commented on what a great campaign Romney is running (he's GOP but not supporting Romney). My response? OF COURSE he's running a "great campaign" but is it really so great when he's outspending all his opponents COMBINED?
Dropping opposition is not the same thing as giving support. What are they supposed to do, endorse Obama?
Romney is going to be the nominee. That is just the painful infuriating truth of it.
We can either insure Obama’s re-election or we can hold our noses and vote for idiot Romney and have some slim chance of repealing Obamacare.
If Obama wins, then we get PERMANENT Obamacare and another 2 Obama Scotus picks who will make Kagan and Sortamywhore look like heterosexuals. His next two picks will be outright communists. Fortunately, the GOP will retake the Senate, so we should be able to block the worst of his picks.
But you know the surrender-prone GOP. They will reject his first obviously communist picks and then approve of his next ones.
We are stuck with Romney or Obama. Make your choice. I still would rather hit the wall at 70mph rather than at 140mph.
I say let the shit hit the fan sooner. Let Obama have his second term if the alternative is having McRomney foisted upon us.
The tea party may have endorsed romney but the TEA Party never will.
LLS
I will never hold my nose again and vote for the likes of Romney. I'll write in Sarah Palin first. And if Obama wins again, then the country gets what it deserves. Period.
Let me repeat---NO MORE NOSE HOLDING!
LLS
From your mouth to the toilet bowl; just the thought makes me wanna hurl.
If -- like 2008 -- 2012 turns into another choice between bulls**t and chicken s**t I just don't know whether I can pull the lever at all.
Heads, they win; tails we lose. You vote one way, the Dems win. You vote the other way, America, The Constitution, and Conservatism all lose. That's a real choice -- how?
An enemy within is much worse than an enemy we know, Perhaps utter destruction is what our country needs, in order to rebuild.
Sadly, much, if not most of the tea party has always been behind Romney proving the Tea Party wasn’t what we thought it was, or failed to educate. The truth is, Sarah Palin needed to step up and lead the movement, she chose not to, so it’s failing. Not blaming her, just stating the facts ...
You are 100% correct re Romney.
But if our choice is between th devil and the deep blue sea, I’ll take the latter and pray to God. We can’t have Obama and derailing Romney at this point is all but impossible. Credit must be given where credit is due, and like it or not, he won pretty handidly and among major demographics in IL. The Fat Lady sings.
