FR CANTEEN MISSION STATEMENT Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allied military and the family members of the above. Honoring those who have served before.
Remember the Good Old Days? Sock Hops? Drive-in Movies? Buddy Holly? Or other things that made it Fabulous? You know, before cellphones? Come on in and share your memories. Or take a trip back in time.
Tonight well check out 1952. Despite the war in Korea Americans considered themselves to be prospering with average worker earning $3,400 per year, a college teacher could expect to earn $5,100 per year.
Three out of 5 families owned a car, 2 out of 3 families now had a telephone, 1 in 3 homes had a television. Average Cost of new house $9.050.00 Average wages per year $3,850.00 Average Cost of a new car $1,700.00 Fast Food restaurants were growing in popularity, Many more cars in America were now fitted with automatic gearboxes and gas cost 25 cents per gallon. the scourge of Polio hit many thousands of families ( 50,000 estimated )
Number One Hit March 9 May 10 1952 ~ Kay Starr - Wheel of Fortune ~ (click graphic) Arrowhead was born
Remember, the Canteen is a family friendly place. We welcome the military, our allies, and their families. Continued prayers for the success and completion of your mission. Prayers for your safe return home.

Happy Friday To The Canteen
Thanks for the thread, beachy.I was a junior in college in 1952..
and married.
We did have a TV but I wasn't terribly impressed with the grainy picture.
My children were born in 54 and 56 while my husband was in the Navy
They are both glad they grew up in more innocent, conservative times
*Thank you to all who serve our country*

I’m here (waving my arms in the air)
Good morning, Pro ((HUGS))
Geez, missed you again today.
Seems we’ll have a busy weekend according to my husband. Got shopping to do. And we may try to get out on Sunday for a quick breakfast.
We must have a lot of moisture in the air because my curly hair - which has been almost as straight as a board this winter - has suddenly decided to frizz up after my morning walk. LOL
Hope you have a wonderful time with daughter-girl.
BTW, where you born in the 50s? Didn’t see where you took a trip down memory lane. hint
Have a sunnylicious weekend.
