Efforts to silence Rush Limbaugh are apparently having a significant impact on the talk radio business as a whole, including syndicated radio shows hosted by Sean Hannity, Mark Levin and Glenn Beck.
After provocative comments made about a female Georgetown law school student, Limbaugh's show has been targeted by liberal groups that have pressured more than two dozen advertisers to drop his program from their ad buys.
Now, Rush's syndicator, Premiere Networks, is losing advertisers for other conservative programs it airs.
According to an internal Premiere memorandum obtained by Radio-Info.com, the company says 98 advertisers no longer wanted to air ad spots on any "offensive or controversial" talk programs.
Radio-Info says the list of advertisers include "carmakers (Ford, GM, Toyota), insurance companies (Allstate, Geico, Prudential, State Farm) and restaurants (McDonalds, Subway)."

The President expressed an Opinion. He is allowed to do so.
He can even sign a law that sez Rush can be flogged for being on the Radio (After Congress sends it to him) However the supreme court is supposed to rule on such and remove it from the books. (One would hope such a law would never get that far being such would be Unconstitutional on a a number of points)
Members of Congress and the president have made statements to intimidate Rush and his advertisers.
Same here but I think I’ll contact them and tell them nothing is forever. ;)
True but such does not make it a First Amendment Issue and to keep posting such further muddies the waters and spreads disinformation about the founding documents. Such is the tactics of the Left.
Call the issue what it is and nothing more because when you do so your argument loses credibility.
The left is trying to organize a boycott to Remove Conservatives from the Airwaves before the next election. Focus on that issue don't weaken your argument with painfully incorrect assertions about "RIGHTS".
Uh Huh and Grass is Green.
And Both statements have one thing in common, Neither are First Amendment Issues.
WHEN Congress makes a law THEN you can cry First Amendment. Until the n stop with the argument because you weaken the Conservative movement when you do such.
Call it what it is. A concerted effort by those on the left who are afraid to have Rush and Crew on the radio pointing out how bad everything is because the Democrats are in charge.
Actually, for us seniors, Wendie’s has the best deal... FREE coffee or soft drink... 99C for a cheese burger and a free drink. Can’t get much better than that!
I don't know what Ford's advertising position is on Rush's show. With that said, according to the site called "Open Secrets.org", between 1989 and 2012 Ford has given 38% to the Democrats and 61% to the Republicans.
This is all simply the inevitable result when a people begin choosing sides. That sort of thing frequently is a precursor to real trouble.
Not sure.. I got my low rate pre-obama. It’s just stayed that low. They keep adding more discounts per year because of my time with them.
you are missing the critical issue. It is liberals wanting to shut down conversative talk radio by threating those who advertise on their show. Without advertisement no radio show will exist.
Tell that to MPR.. Just saying..
Beck is doing it with TV on the internet. It can be done with pod casts or streaming. With smart phones you can have radio anywhere, from anywhere.
We are no longer limited to our local am/fm market. When it comes to music I stream Pandora in my truck. No commercials (I pay the 30 or so bucks a year) and I can zap songs I don’t like.
With the power of the internet and portable internet devices we could pay a small (3-5 dollar) monthly fee and get Rush commercial free if he so chose to do it.
I already get Levin this way. 1 hour after his show ends his pod cast is posted free to the world. Since he is tape delay in my market I can actually finish his his show before the on air tape delayed show.
I forgot about that. I guess since they didn’t take like GM I may give them a second thoight.
My car is up for replacement answer I intended om purchasing another Taraus and needed the SHO AWD.
But Mickey-d, I don’t need those chicken sandwiches anyway. I can just carry cans of tuna and chicken .
From what I understand Ford is on the list of advertisers who have decided to take part in the Rush embargo.
And doesn’t that demonstrate their moral and intellectual bankruptcy?
Just the dumdest thing I have heard in a while.
Mercury Insurance.
Progressive commercials are increasingly gay thematics.
Funny. I think I heard commercials for Mozy on Hannity or Levin.
Eff Craponite.
Not really Uncle.
Rush has no right to a platform or to be heard.
He can go out on his beach and talk to the waves all day and night...that is his right.
This just shows the left is far more organized than we are in expressing their displeasure with advertisers.
*it was not always this way, Evangelical groups in the 70s used to scare the pants off advertisers...Wildmon from Tupelo MS ..anyone recall him?
