....They thought they had this thing wrapped up after Florida (had no idea that Newt would win SC and be a player)...

I'm having trouble making sense of this part since SC had already been won before Florida held their primary.

Low-life scum bag, s.o.b’s. I hope this thing goes all the way to Tampa and that the GOP has a knock-down, drag-out Brokered Convention and Romney leaves with nothing but his magic underwear.

If determined to be true, what would be the remedy?
______________________________________________________________

I don’t know what would be the remedy other than an all-out rebellion at the Convention in Tampa. I do know this...........

THIS FRIGGIN’ THING NEEDS TO GO VIRAL ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND THE NEWS MEDIA!!!

That's because the GOPe believes that conservatives will be good little boys and girls and unite behind Bishop Romney after he's immaculated at the convention.

They are WRONG.

Romney is bound to lose in November. GOP elite will collapse with him. Let them collapse. Don’t vote for Romney, or for GOP incumbents!

On the ruins of it, the Conservatives must build a new Party and eliminate all the RINOs. Elect Newt Gingrich leader of Republican Conservative Party, he will build it from scratch on Reaganite principle. That’s the only way. Otherwise conservatism is dead in America.

The new RCP can win the Congress - House AND Senate in 2014.

The GOPe have screwed this thing up to the point that they are going to end up with Obama as president again. Is that what they want? I see no way that Romney will win the general but that is what they have forced on us. What the he!! is going on?

Why is this a big surprise to everyone???!!! I and several other VA posters have been complaining about this on FR for weeks! J.D. Hayworth has been covering it for at least 3 weeks since he has been auditioning his talk radio show in the Richmond area! (3 to 6 pm on WRVA/Richmond 1140 AM ...livestream at www.wrva.com)

J.D. had some of the GOP flaks burning up the phone lines yesterday on to his show; complaining about exposing their little “game.” One guy was a Delegate to the GA and claimed to be a Santorum supporter. He gave the usual “they (Newt/Satorum/Perry/Cain) didn't follow the rules” BS! The Good Ol’ boys of the VA GOP Establishment don't like the light of day being shown upon them any better than the Dems do!

Hayworth is a Newt guy and he believes this was all a set-up by the GOP insiders in Richmond to try to get Gov McDonnell the VeeP slot on the Romney “ticket.” (In case anyone hasn't noticed; McDonnell endorsed Mitt right before the SC primary and since then has been out there campaigning w/Romney in several southern states including FL.)

For those who don't know Dr Saboto; he is a very competent analyst and Director of the UVa Center for Politics. Saboto is very knowledgable; however, he is also a Dem and absolutely HATES the VA GOP “insiders;” as well as the GOP in general. He's not doing Newt any great favors by suddenly hi-lighting this political chicanery AFTER the Primary is over. Saboto and the Press knew about this many weeks ago; but, gave it almost no coverage up until last night.

There is still an ongoing CRIMINAL investigation being conducted by the office of the VA Attorney General regarding the fraudulent ballot petition(s). One employee of the company that collected the signatures for Newt and other candidates in VA apparently committed some type of fraud involving the signatures he or she submitted. From what little has been released in the Press and thru blogger reports, there also appears to be some evidence that indicates there may have been an deliberate attempt to sabotage Newt's ballot petition. (Perry, Cain and Santorum did not make the VA ballot either; and several candidates filed court challenges w/other candidates filing as parties to those lawsuits.)

The Press should have covered this in depth and asked lots of probing questions; but, they abdicated their responsibility and the VA GOP was allowed to “skate” w/the excuse; “The candidates didn't follow the rules.” The fact is that the VA GOP used much stricter eligibility requirements for all the non-Romney/Paul candidates; while Romney and Paul were allowed to submit their signature petitions w/o any real scrutiny ...simply because Romney and Paul claimed to have collected in excess of 15000 signatures. The courts even recognized that the process the VA GOP used was unconstitutional; however, the court refused to grant relief due to other technicalities.

So, basically NOBODY covered this fiasco in depth or questioned it; nor did the Press question any of the GOP’s “explanations” or the courts decisions/lack of ameliorative action; as they certainly would have if several Dems had their signature petitions denied in the same manner.

As of yesterday many Virginians (let alone out of state FReepers!) went to the polls still totally unaware of what had gone on. When they got there yesterday, I am sure many Virginians were astonished to find their candidate wasn't on the ballot and no write-in’s were allowed. I know I heard some interviews on the radio yesterday of people who were planning to vote for Newt or Rick who had no idea they couldn't even “write-in” for them.

That's it in a nutshell ...too bad most people either just don't pay attention or plain don't care. I am still holding out hope for Newt; however, if the current trend is any indication, Romney will eventually win the nomination; simply because it has been pre-ordained by the GOP-E! Voting for our candidates is just a meaningless nicety granted to us by the elites “behind the curtain” to make us all feel that we matter; and, yesterday in VA we weren't even granted that small courtesy.

We truly are being set up by both parties, aren’t we?

If they think that they can get all of us peons to fall in line and vote for their chosen one, they have another thing coming. I think many will say “no thanks”—me included.

"Wrong, both had several thousand more than required so they were not subject to a review. Big difference."

So Romney's signatures WEREN'T verified, regardless of when submitted? When were they submitted, recently, or in 2008? There are now allegations of highly irregular conspiratorial allegations released last night concerning attempts to keep Newt off the ballot, by the Rep establishment and Mitt Romney. I will post this reply, and then look up that thread.

Willard had about 19,000 signatures, so it was reported. Probably came by his church. This was all posted here back when the decision was made last fall. Do a search here, I am sure it will turn up. Thx!

Reporting from Virginia, FOX News’s Shannon Breen gave voice to political analyst, Virginia Tech’s Larry Sabato

Sabato is tenured at UVA, not Tech. It's very hard to take any analysis seriously from any so-called reporter who would make such a glaringly obvious and obnoxious a mistake.

Plaster this news all over AL, MS, KS, TX, etc. news sources. Period.

And, we have 2 candidates that are not DOCUMENTED Natural Born Citizens in Romney and Santorum.

Hi Shelayne-

Its the elite internal power structure in the VA and national GOP trying to maintain and increase their control and influence. I'm sure the Dems are snickering about all this as well.

As you implied it is infuriating ...right now I am trying to stay focused on the fact that Obama is still the biggest threat to our liberty; but, obviously, I am having a hard time doing that when I know the GOP is using us this way.

I think the best we can hope for right now is to try to support whomever the candidate is that emerges as the “anti-Obama candidate” and then start working on some real change (even if it means a third party) after this election is over.

Others here will disagree w/me and say we should write in our preferred candidate or “unvote” (stay home or not mark any choice for the presidential candidate and vote for Conservatives “down ticket.” If it wasn't for the dire consequences that a second Obama term would create, I would agree w/that strategy; however, the reality is that we can't afford another 4 years of Obama; particularly while the military is deployed in a war zone.

Of course, my strategy assumes that the candidate who is selected actually can beat Obama and I am not at all sure that will be the case. I think we have to try though. Still hoping Newt can pull it together; but, it's a long shot at this point and it does appear that Newt and Rick are splitting the Conservative vote and I can fully understand why both sides want to stick to “their” man. It is what it is; wish I could paint a rosier picture; but, I can't.

‘Take care,

-Geoff
