LIMA, Ohio (AP) -- Rick Santorum sees an America in need of more than economic recovery, warning Saturday that the nation's inattention to conservative social values is "damning people."
"Folks if we know what works, why don't we talk about what works? Why don't we encourage it in our schools? Why don't we encourage it in our culture?" the Republican presidential candidate asked hundreds of people gathered at the Allen County Lincoln Day dinner. "Why are we damning people? Why are we condemning them to a life just because we won't talk about - we'll talk about childhood obesity until the cows come home. But we won't talk about one of the great underlying causes of childhood obesity, which is the instability of the community, the neighborhood and the family."
Campaigning across Ohio this weekend, the former Pennsylvania senator has been calling for fewer children born out of wedlock and fewer single-parent families. He argues that communities where mothers raise children by themselves have less freedom than those where two-parent families are the norm.

We don't have to fret over whether he's electable in the general. He'll not win the GOP nomination.
Sounds to me like Rick would make a good first Lady. And we know he has the outfit for it.
Win, lose, or draw—somebody with stature should be speaking these truths. The campaign lectern is a bully pulpit.
Wow. I don’t even know what to say. Even as he’s in freefall he doesn’t see where his campaign went wrong.
do you ever recall them using the term “social agenda” before?
He does not have the stature. He’s not able to advance social con’s agenda one inch. On the contrary, he makes people cringe at social con’s intrusive, big government agenda.
Nope. He’s over and done with. He’ll keep preaching to the converted (literally) and ignore the issues of spending, economic growth, trade deficits, the lack of job creation and wage improvements in the US economy.
He should go into televangelism
Are you dare saying that sweater vests aren’t manly attire?
Not only did I “dare” to say it, I even “deign” to say it. I might even “have the temerity” to say it too.
Maybe someone should ask Lil Ricky why he and Trent Lott torpedoed Bill Clintons impeachment hearing.

There are many more articles on it but this will do for now. Santorum will not win.
Santorum will never be the nominee. The establishment
continues to prop him up to divide the conservatives.
Yeah, nobody wants to hear about single mothers that have 4 kids from 4 different fathers. That’s none of the government’s business. Well, it is their business to write the checks, but other than that all the rest of us care about is can we get the Playboy channel on satellite and will we have jobs to pay for it.
Now I’m morbidly curious how many Freepers here dropped $100 to Santorum’s campaign so they could have a sweater vest too.
First off, he’s right. I dare say most of the country’s ills can be traced to a lack of morality. The Democrat’s agenda is based on division (strife), envy, and greed. I won’t say hatred, because I think that word is overused. However, the Democrats clearly try to create animosity between groups. The appeal to the very worst motives and base desires in people, and it apparently works for them.
Secondly, making these issues the forefront of a political campaign is a very poor way to get elected. We are not electing a preacher. We are electing a leader, someone who represents voters from multiple faiths and non believers.
I’m not saying morality shouldn’t be discussed, and government policies that encourage immorality, like corporate and private welfare (wealth redistribution) programs, should be targeted. What I’m saying is, it’s possible to be true to one’s faith and still speak in ways that appeal to a wider spectrum of voters.
Yeah; Rick. You go boy!! Yeah. That’s what America is most concerned about right now: Whether two college kids use a condom on Saturday night or that JFK’s speech on Separation of Church and State over 50 years ago made you want to vomit. Keep it up..................dumb ass.
What a choice we have: Kook-daddy and the Three Stooges.
It's a common term reaching back decades that I can remember. I've heard it in reference to Rep and Dim candidates, parties and administrations.
Is this where he did the exorcism in the Walmart parking lot?
