A Statement from Rush (Rush offers apology to Slut!)

For over 20 years, I have illustrated the absurd with absurdity, three hours a day, five days a week. In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke.

I think it is absolutely absurd that during these very serious political times, we are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress. I personally do not agree that American citizens should pay for these social activities. What happened to personal responsibility and accountability? Where do we draw the line? If this is accepted as the norm, what will follow? Will we be debating if taxpayers should pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit?In my monologue, I posited that it is not our business whatsoever to know what is going on in anyone's bedroom nor do I think it is a topic that should reach a Presidential level.

My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices.

I think Rush apologizing is for the best. He was pointing out the absurdity of Fluke asking for her contraception to be provided to her free of charge, and the ridiculous amount of money she claims it costs, by pointing out how much sex one must be having for the cost to be that high. The melodramatic way she portrayed the 'plight' of the girls on campus who can't get birth control drugs was high comedy. I understood Rush's tongue-in-cheek intent, as would anyone would who listens on a regular basis and gets it. He crossed the line, however, when he used the word 'slut.'

In the lamestream media, the story is not the absurdity of Fluke's bogus victim status or the entitlement mentality for which she has just become the poster girl. It's that Rush called a young girl (though older than we were first led to believe) a nasty name to a national audience. That's all the casual observer of news is going to take away from this. It also enabled her to go on TV again and play up her victimhood to the world. Therefore, he has become the bad guy, and it makes our side look like a bunch of judgmental Pharisees.

We have to be smarter than that if we are going to win on this issue of religious freedom. And we have to win this one.

You are right. Most of the products sold on his show are never purchased by the OWS - occupy wall street types that are so fake indignant about this. Rush probably had to back off some, but he put it out there, and now only idiots will deny that she is a prostitute.
